“A very good stay !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

We spent 1 week in hotel Le Calette. It was a very quiet hotel ! food was very good.. not like in the big ressorts. One exception : when they put a buffet outside or inside, they should set the fish on ice to keep it fresh...
The staff was very friendly with a good service. always smiling faces !
Rooms were very comfortable. one exception : they should install mosquito net at the windows.. a lot of mosquitos in september.
the only black point is the very bad taste of the coffee at breakfast. we were in a hurry to order a good coffee at the bar !
For the rest it was perfect !!! We will come back !

“Walk to Cefalu past sewage plant”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2010

We would not recommend Le Calette or come again. Our stay was disappointing, especially as we had been led to believe the hotel's location was better.

Le Calette is 20 or 25 minute walk away from Cefalu, but it is not scenic. We had to walk along the side of a main road, then past a rather smelly sewage plant to get to the town centre. As the hotel's lunch and dinner were expensive, we chose to eat in town every evening.

Our rooms were not fantastic for the price we paid; Le Calette was not great value for money at all. We were supposedly upgraded to a jacuzzi room, but then we did not have a proper shower. Our sky TV did not have many free channels and the receptionists did not know what they were doing when we wanted to watch a pay channel - we ended up missing the first half of the match! In fact the receptionists were quite inept.

Le Calette does, however, have its own private sea access, which was lovely, and the pool is great.

I suppose the hotel makes for an average beach holiday (or a single night as a break from a boat trip, as it is close to a harbour), but there are lots of better places to stay in Cefalu.

“A comfortable hotel”

If you go to this hotel expecting a 4 star you would be terribly disappointed, if you go expecting a maximum of a 3 star hotel then you will like it. The rooms were okay (none of them more than a 3 star) and varied enormously, the staff were delightful, the breakfast was excellent, they need to spend a lot of time in the garden as they were untidy and lawns hadn’t been mown for a while, this made the place feel shabby. The current owners old mother just sat around all the time glaring at the guests, she was a bit creepy. The hotel has a nice outlook but needs a lot of money spent on it to bring it up to its supposed rating of 4 stars. It is a shame because it has so much potential.

“A very pleasant relaxed hotel, staffed by a good team, in a beautiful location.”

The service at Le Calette was friendly and efficient. The General Manager Antonio frequently 'walked the job' and was easily accessible if needed. Our seaview first floor room was comfortable and cool with air-conditioning if needed. The maid kept it spotlessly clean, with clean towels available as needed and clean bedlinen twice weekly. Beach towels were available too. It had a good-sized balcony with table, chairs and parasol. The room had a minibar, satellite TV, dressing table with chair and five drawers, a double wardrobe with ample hangers, four drawers and several shelves. Shower room with good shower, hair dryer, bidet, WC with insect mesh-screened window which could be closed if required.
The train, which passes very close-by is the quietest we have ever heard and did not disturb us. The location is wonderful, high above the sea with a restricted view of the bay and harbour. We liked the availability of both the good sized swimming pool with jacuzzi with easy access to bar and room, and peaceful 'beach bar' which gave easy access to sea swimming with the luxury of ample sunbeds and plentiful parasols. The lovely little bay is fully visible from here.
The hotel grounds cover a large footprint which meant that when the pool area seemed a little noisy or crowded we could escape to the beach bar, swim in the sea and relax with all necessary facilities to hand. There is a small black sand and rock beach and a newly constructed sun deck with step access to the sea. Canoes are availble to hire.
The walk into the old town of Cefalu took a leisurely 30 minutes with some excellent bars and restaurants.
The food at Le Calette was delicious and well prepared and presented with a wide choice at breakfast. The light lunch was really good value and interesting variety.
We did not attend the Barbecue Evening with folkloric music because we thought it very expensive, other guests who did attend commented that it was not good value for money. The weekly disco at the Beach Bar did not disturb us at all, being a short walk from our room. We highly recommend this hotel.

“excellent location for getaway holiday, food and staff terrific,”

we spent 10 days at the hotel in june 2010. the situation is lovely with stunning views of the sea and port, the hotel is currently building another lower terrace below the swimming pool area and when this is complete it will add to the already excellent facilties for dining outside and relaxing.
we had half board and were very pleased we did as the choice of menu and the standard of food was first class.
the staff in reception, bar, and dining room were efficient, friendly, and helpfull, all with a good sense of humour.
cleanliness throughout the rooms and grounds was first class and very thorough.
there was only one slight criticism the groud floor rooms are small and without a view,
