I began my search on the web for a central hotel in Cattolica. Located the Olympic Hotel and began email contact with Rita. She was extremely helpful with arrangements for 7 guests, plus transportation to and from the airport. We stayed at the Olympic in mid August 2005 and received a generous discount from the usual advertised rate, in view of the size of the booking.
Upon check in, our rooms were immediately available and we kept until our late afternoon departure time. Rooms were clean and of adequate size.
The hotel is on a busy main road and traffic noise disturbed one of the guests who was given, at no additional charge, a double room at the back of the hotel, which was extremely peaceful. Personally, I didn't find the traffic a problem and enjoyed the luxury of people watching from the sunny, front balcony.
Excellent, convenient location. The beach and main pedestrian area, full of restaurants and shops, just a few minutes walk away.
The breakfast was typical European fare…breads and juice, yoghurt, cereal and delicious pastry....along with coffee and tea. Lunch and dinner were excellent, both being 4 courses….salad bar, choice of the most delicious pasta dishes or soup, choice of a meat or fish dish, followed by fruit (or ice cream at lunch time).
The staff were always courteous and helpful.
Guests were varied, from couples, groups of friends, young families and senior citizens and everyone was pleasant, with a passing smile. It's a friendly, easy going place to stay.
The owners, Rita and Bruno were magnificent, always with a smile, a friendly word, making you feel most welcome. Most kind in that they gave us a couple of bottles of wine as a parting gift.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.
