“descent place, if you are on wheels”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

been there 25-27.11. Hotel is huge.
Good: friendly stuff late check-out was not a problem, very nice room upgrade if you are PCR Platinium, spacious room with a balcony, great sleeping quality, outdoor pool, big gym on 5th floor, value for money
Bad:position. Not easy to find even if you are on wheels. Be careful when driving to Caserta. Do not enter in the city center. Park somewhere else. Traffic jam 24h. GPS is on must have list!

Room Tip: ask for rooms with balcony

“One of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Before booking the Crowne Plaza in Caserta, I looked at the reviews on Tripadvisor. The "out-of-town" location was noted. As we had a rental car, this was not a problem. It could be difficult if one had no car. Should one need to take a taxi into town, the hotel has arranged a special Euros 10 each way deal.

The hotel is huge, it would never fit in the town centre anyway!

This really is one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in. I know that it's mainly a business hotel, I know that it's out of the town, but the Crowne Plaza in Caserta makes up for a lot of this by being fantastic.

Good points:

Check in. Fantastic! As a Priority Club member, I was given due recognition and upgraded to an Executive Suite (even though we were travelling on points and stayed for free). Luca who attended to us was amazingly helpful and friendly.

The hotel itself is large and most impressive, the atrium covers the main facilities of the hotel. All is in first-class order and well-maintained.

Our room was a delight. Massive. Walk-in wardrobe, good big bed, big TV. Spectacular bathroom with a (genuine) Jacuzzi whirlpool bath. Housekeeping standards were of the very highest, the room was spotless and well provided with accessories.

A free aperitif (Prosecco) before dinner was taken in the stylish bar (a Priority Club perk).

As we were tired, we decided to eat in the restaurant rather than go out foraging for something a little less expensive. The food was very good and presented well. The service was exceptional, skilled and unhurried. In all, well worth the cost.

Not so good points:

Hardly anything to mention really. I suppose that as such a big hotel, the walk from the main facilities to the room could be a long one - but then, you need to work the calories off after the good dinner!

Finally, nothing to do with the hotel, but Caserta isn't up to much. The main attraction - the Royal Palace is a bit of a let-down. If you go and want to see the (impressive) staircase, don't bother to pay the ludicrous Euros 16 entrance fee, you get access to the staircase for free. Maybe the Royal appartments are worth the Euros 16 entrance fee, somehow I doubt it.

“No atmosphere bit like a prison block”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

Bedrooms and bathrooms very good. No atmosphere in lounge or dining areas. Food not very good and service in restaurant much too fast. Plates taken away almost before each course finished. I stayed in the quiet zone but was woken up at 6am when the empty bottles were collected from the rubbish area. Would not stay there again.

“Clean and comfortable haven amidst a concrete jungle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

This was our last hotel visit during our group tour of Italy. When entering Caserta I wondered where we were going ,as it was a concrete jungle of run down buildings, not a very inviting area. The hotel looked large and was placed in the middle of this shambles. They must be doing something right as an extension is being built using an old disused building. This summary seems at first glance to look slightly harsh, but my feelings were soon changed on entering the hotel. Clean reception lounge area, with a waterfall cascade on a back wall. Reception staff were friendly and efficient. We were greeted by the amicable Hotel manager, who gave us a rundown of the hotel and services available to us , plus a welcome drink .
Our room was large and spotlessly clean, pure white towels were in the well equiped, also large bathroom. The bed was the most comfortable we had had during our travels in Italy, so a good night sleep was assured. The room was quiet , and no noise from outside could be heard. Mini bar and safe, plus tea and coffee making facilities .
As were a group tour our food was included, and a choice was made available to us, we just ticked the previous day what was required for the next.I must say the food was not up to scratch. The company we were with pay a minimal amount for our food, but it's no excuse for it to be cooked in a poor manner. So this was a let down for us .Saying that, the breakfast was very very good. Assortment of cold Italian meats , cheeses , with mozzarella to die for. Eggs , bacon , sausages, potatoes and an array of sticky cakes. breakfast made up for the short comings of our evening meal. Drinks like all hotels were expensive. But all is not lost .Just over the road in about a five minute walk there is a small bar, and for about third of the price you can enjoy your favourite tipple. The hotel charged me twenty two euros for two Baileys and two small beers, across the road a beer was one ninety euros. The hotel is just half an hour from Naples, so imagine this is why this particular one is used, plus the price would be cheaper than staying in the city.
We enjoyed our stay even though our group food left a bad taste in our mouths, maybe that particular chef ( use that word loosely ) needs to retrain or seek a different career.

“Always Choose a Crown Plaza Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

Rooms are just like in North America - big and clean. Huge rooms with big TVs, big bathrooms. Nice large pool. Friendly front desk staff. But beware of southern Italy. Women are treated as unequal to men. If you are a single female, it may be more difficult with the front desk staff as my wife found out when she tried speaking with them on her own.

Lots of free parking. The best fitness centre I have ever seen for a hotel. The breakfast is a huge selection of various choices. I would definitely stay here again!
