“Relax and unwind at Villa Mimma”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2008

What can I say about Villa Mimma. This is a true haven for a family like ours. We needed a 'break' from it all, and Villa Mimma provided just that. The breathtaking scenery, the warm hospitality offered by the hosts, the really private apartment, comfortable beds, afternoon naps under the shady trees in the courtyard, the wine, the wine, the wine.............

Our children felt a littel too much 'at home' because they were treated like granchildren, and that really meant so much to us.

We cannot wait to go back and had tears in our eyes as we drove away from Treville.

“A Home Away from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2008

The two nights we four female travellers stayed at Villa Mimma was definitely not long enough. The reason we chose this accommodation was that my cousin and I wanted to visit our mums' town of Ozzano and Treville is only a few kilometres from there. Searching the inet gave me Villa Mimma and my cousin and two other travelling companions liked what they saw on the website so I made a booking. It was the last two nights of our 5 weeks' tour of the UK and Europe but it was the best two nights of the whole trip.
We stayed in the La Braia Villa self-contained apartment which was very spacious with two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs and another bedroom downstairs with bathroom. Son, Andrea, saved our strength by carrying our heavy luggage into the apartment where Paola had left provisions for breakfast and a local bottle of wine.... a nice welcoming touch. The delicious salami and cheese in the refrigerator complemented the wine.

After driving on the right (wrong) side of the road in our hire car it was great to find such a peaceful place to unwind... particularly for Robyn our only "manual" driver. After an afternoon rest we had a very pleasant walk through the small village that evening.

The second evening of our stay was spent learning how to make gnocchi with Paola. Paola's husband, Alberto then presented us with "cooking class" certifcates which he had composed on his computer. Alberto then played some lively tunes on the piano in a beautiful dome-topped room with frescos painted on the walls and ceiling. We returned later to eat the gnocchi, coated in a sumptuous bolognaise sauce, for dinner with the family members. Alberto spoke English better than I could speak Italian but we managed well with our communications.

Even though we had inclement weather which obscured the majority of the beautiful views from this prime hilltop position, it did not dampen our spirits as the ambience of the villa and the warmth and friendliness of our hosts was wonderful.
Now I just have to convince my husband to go there with me to stay for a longer period next year or the year after.

“True traditional Italian welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 March 2008

Just felt I had to tell you about this gem of a find. I was looking for a B+B to stay at, in the Monferrato region of Piemonte, this month. I'd read a couple of reviews on Trip Advisor which praised it, and on that basis decided to book. I have to say, I was in complete agreement with what had been written, and would recommend to anyone looking for accommodation in that area.

Less than an hour from Turin by car, and very easy to find, at the end of the village of Treville, this beautiful XVIII century B+B has stunning views of the Alps and surrounding countryside.

There is a mixture of accommodation is available, both B+B and self catering, at very competitive rates. We stayed in a double room with bathroom facilities next door, but there is a range of rooms available to take care of families and other combinations of guests. There is even a large party room which can be hired. Simply furnished in traditional Italian style, the beds were comfortable, and the rooms were spotlessly clean. We wanted for nothing - tea facilities, hairdryer, electrical points etc were all on hand. The large terrace at the front of the property overlooks the most spectacular scenery - woods, valleys and the Alps in the background - a wonderful place to take your breakfast cup of tea to start the day, and I'm sure a complete suntrap in the summer.

A car is a must when you stay in this region. Treville and the little villages nearby are very picturesque and well worth a stroll around. The National Parcs are close by, where you can enjoy the nature of the Area. The capital of the Monferrato region, Casale, is a mere 15mins drive away, with all the facilities of a big town and a beautiful paved area with cafes and boutiques to enjoy. Asti, Acqui Terme and Alexandria are also within easy reach, and with Turin less than an hour away by car and Milan not much more in the other direction,(both are accessible by train from Casale if you don't fancy trying to find your way round the one way streets and parking there) there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the many attractions surrounding this B+B. However if you are lost for ideas, just ask Paola and Alberto who run Villa Mimma, as they have plenty of leaflets and information to share with you, and are happy to book you into local restaurants and vineyard tours.

Sometimes when you stay in B+Bs they can seem austere and unfriendly, but Paola is such a welcoming host - she goes out of her way to help you, whatever the question or request, and she so wants you to have a wonderful stay, -always enquiring how your day has been. We will most certainly be going back later this year to take in more of the sights and Italian way of life, and we feel that when we do return, we will be going back to friends next time round, not just somewhere to stay.

“Fell in love with Villa Mimma”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2007

My wife and I spent a few days at Villa Mimma last September (2007). We felt immediately at home. Everything was perfect. We had a fantastic and very comfortable room overlooking the Alps. The hospitality of our hosts, the quality of our breakfast and the beauty of the surroundings made Villa Mimma a very special place for us. It was our first-ever experience at an Italian B&B, and we enjoyed it immensely. On one particular evening, when we were returning from having dinner at a nearby restaurant (there are many around) we shared an after dinner meeting with the owners and other guests. We all felt like a large family, exchanging comments and travel stories. We are only sorry that our travel schedule did not allow us to stay longer. The bathroom was confortable and well equipped; the room had old-style classy furniture (chest of drawers, desk and nightables) sufficient to accomodate our belongings.

“A really special place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2007

Our stay at Villa Mimma was one of the best short-stay holidays we have ever had. We went in search of truffles and found this idyll in the hills, looking out across from our bedroom window to the Alps in the distance. Paula and Alberto were so helpful with everything that by the time we left, we felt like we were leaving old friends behind! They introduced us to the joys of home-made gnocchi and malfatti and accompanied us to the local bee farm and vineyard.
Treville is a delightful little village in a beautiful part of the country,. overlooking the plains. The churchyard at the top of the hill has a telescope, through which you can see glorious views of the Alps to the north.
We managed to find a truffle fair in nearby Murisengo, where we were also treated with tremendous friendliness and hospitality.
