Just felt I had to tell you about this gem of a find. I was looking for a B+B to stay at, in the Monferrato region of Piemonte, this month. I'd read a couple of reviews on Trip Advisor which praised it, and on that basis decided to book. I have to say, I was in complete agreement with what had been written, and would recommend to anyone looking for accommodation in that area.
Less than an hour from Turin by car, and very easy to find, at the end of the village of Treville, this beautiful XVIII century B+B has stunning views of the Alps and surrounding countryside.
There is a mixture of accommodation is available, both B+B and self catering, at very competitive rates. We stayed in a double room with bathroom facilities next door, but there is a range of rooms available to take care of families and other combinations of guests. There is even a large party room which can be hired. Simply furnished in traditional Italian style, the beds were comfortable, and the rooms were spotlessly clean. We wanted for nothing - tea facilities, hairdryer, electrical points etc were all on hand. The large terrace at the front of the property overlooks the most spectacular scenery - woods, valleys and the Alps in the background - a wonderful place to take your breakfast cup of tea to start the day, and I'm sure a complete suntrap in the summer.
A car is a must when you stay in this region. Treville and the little villages nearby are very picturesque and well worth a stroll around. The National Parcs are close by, where you can enjoy the nature of the Area. The capital of the Monferrato region, Casale, is a mere 15mins drive away, with all the facilities of a big town and a beautiful paved area with cafes and boutiques to enjoy. Asti, Acqui Terme and Alexandria are also within easy reach, and with Turin less than an hour away by car and Milan not much more in the other direction,(both are accessible by train from Casale if you don't fancy trying to find your way round the one way streets and parking there) there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the many attractions surrounding this B+B. However if you are lost for ideas, just ask Paola and Alberto who run Villa Mimma, as they have plenty of leaflets and information to share with you, and are happy to book you into local restaurants and vineyard tours.
Sometimes when you stay in B+Bs they can seem austere and unfriendly, but Paola is such a welcoming host - she goes out of her way to help you, whatever the question or request, and she so wants you to have a wonderful stay, -always enquiring how your day has been. We will most certainly be going back later this year to take in more of the sights and Italian way of life, and we feel that when we do return, we will be going back to friends next time round, not just somewhere to stay.
