“Good Holiday but take Mosquito cream and a car!”

We stayed at Pra Delle Torri campsite on 11th - 25th September 2010 with Thomson Al Fresco. After reading other reviews we decided not to hire a car and booked a taxi transfer with Anastas Ekonomi for 80euro (booked by emailing ekonomitaxi@yahoo.it). Other reviews stated that the bus service at Pra Delle Torri was very good however unfortunately the timetable changed to the out of season timetable on the day we arrived and there was only one bus a day at 9.41am and no return bus straight to the campsite. Due to this we were unable to do as much sight seeing as we would have liked but we did get to venice by bus but had to return to Carole and pay 20euro back to the campsite from there however the second time we caught a taxi from Carole it was only 15euros. The campsite was clean and the caravan was comfortable. During our stay the campsite was slowly preparing to close for the winter, the on site spa shop did not stock up on new items so by the time we left most of the shelves were empty, there was another supermarket off site but this was at least a 20minute walk away. Carole was still quite busy however the nearest two towns were deserted. I would advise if you are going in September that a hire car would be beneficial unless you plan on spending most of your time on the campsite.
We did however enjoy our holiday and the weather was good. The park swimming pool is large and the beach is on site too. There were good facilities for children and still entertainment running for children in the day and early evening, the adult disco was however shut for the season whilst we were there. The on site restaurants were also nice too. I would recommend this campsite and the thomson al fresco caravans which looked like some of the most spacious compared to other companies however if you are going out of season I would consider a hire car.

“Thompson Alfesco - pra dell torri holiday village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2010

13/08/10-22/08/10 We stayed with Thompson Alfesco in a three bed caravan - which was big enough for 2 adults and 4 children. The outside of the caravan area was big enough for the children to play.
The caravan was grubby and one mattress was heavy stained (we didn't notice this until we changed the beds)
We arrived around 1.00pm and on 13th August - that day it was raining heavy and we had to wait around in the rain at check in. No provision was laid on to meet us of instruct us to go to the caravan. Cases where soaked etc., you can imagine.
After three hours wait I went to find where the Thompson check -in was. On the door of the caravan I found a note that I had to call the Reps.
They came out after 15mins and escorted us to the caravan.
Concerning the Reps they are there only if you need them nothing else. But we did find we needed them the next day after a terrific storm when the water came in a our caravan through the glass window at the bottom - we had to put towels down to soak if up. That morning we ask the Rep if we could have another 2 towels in replace of the ones we used and the lady rep said know I will have to go to the launderette and wash them.
"Nice" I thought seeing as we waited nearly four hours for them the day before when we arrived.
On check out day the lady rep came round to check of caravan - I told her we are leaving it in a cleaner condition then when we arrived.

Para delle torri park is lovely place and we would go back again - the children loved it.
Would not recommend Thompson Alfresco.

The day we left we were walking back to main reception with our 6 suitcases and a Euro Park Rep stopped and asked if we need help.
Thompson rep was no were to be seen.

I have written to Thompson but havn't heard anything from them.

“Good facilities but poorly run vacation centre, and poor accommodation with Canvas Holidays”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

If you are booking this campsite, never book with Canvas Holidays as their mobiles are miles away from the beach. They are situated on the golf course which is infested by mosquitos. They don't tell you this in the brochure. Their mobiles are tiny and old and are nothing as described on their website. The campsite itself is very big and has lots of facilities, but appears to be poorly run and maintained. If you have teenagers beware - there is a bar which serves alcohol to 13 and 14 year olds and runs unti the early hours of the morning whereas most other campsites shut everything at 12am. If you are considering this campsite, it would be best to book directly with the campsite as they have the best mobiles and the best locations. Don't book anything from Canvas Holidays anyway!

“family friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

we went to pra delle torri with siblu and booked a 3 bed caravan. space outside of caravan was fine, we have a people carrier car and had plenty of room, large table chairs and sunbeds, space even to park the girls bikes outside. Caravan was lovelly clean and plenty of space too. We took electic fans but could have done with the airconditioning, but at 50 euros a week decided to make do.
Pool was fantastic for our 2 girls 11 and 8, we hired sun loungers ( 2 beds and 1 umbrella) at 6.5 euros a day or 35 a week. it was very clean and safe, there is a 50 and 25 metre pool but as it was quite deep we didnt spend too much time in them. The beach was lovelly sand and only a little sea weed. sunbeds can be hired at same price as pool or you can use your own.
Luckily we meet some english people in the caravans around ours which made our holiday more entertaining as the night time could have been pretty boring. we only went to 2 shows, momma mia, poorly mimed staff prancing around stage and strickly come dancing has beens ( one looked like an 80 year dolly parton) . It was open air with no bar so when you were really hot you had to go to the supermarket to get a drink. It was was also running alive with mossies. The mossies were a big problem for us, took sprays, creams candles but were still all bitten every day, could not leave windows open. the site was sprayed twice a week but had little effect.
the supermarket was good not that much more expensive than the local supermarket but as we had the car we often drove out to get more choice. the restaurants were ok but our favourite was the sports bar, lovelly steaks, great service lovelly wine. Siblu staff were great always available when we needed them. the siblu caravans are situated in quite a busy noisy area, if want early nights (before 11.30) then it maybe a problem, eurocamp have caravans in quieter areas some with decking.
This site is massive it is the biggest we have stayed on, it can hold up to 8300 people, so could come as quite a shock to some people. We will do another caravan holiday but would not go back to italy, will stick to france.

“large clean, well maintained camp.great pools and on beach. shame about mozzies!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2010

Great camp on beach, shops, restaurants, supermarket on site.Supermarket well stocked with bakery, deli and green grocer. also reasonable priced(we were geting 1.16euros to the pound). Restaurants were good value with good food for all tastes. Went on Dotto Train into Caorle for some evenings, this runs from the camp although you can catch the local bus from outside the campsite.Well worth a visit Caorle is a lovley lively little town.We saw a great sunset while there so head to seafront just off the main street.Had a great atmosphere at the weekend with lots of locals out for evening walk and eating.Great restaurants here too. Head down the little alleys off the main street to find more shops and restaurants. Venice well worth a day trip we didn't have a car so took the atvo bus trip by bus then boat 20euros. All bus tickets can be brought at the information centre on the camp. Buses are easy to catch from marco polo airport to camp about 4 euros and 3 euros for case.
All staff helpful and friendly- in restaurants, shops and information centre. The pools are great one gaint one for little ones, one thats great for swimming with lanes and another one thats good for older kids. You have to pay for sunbeds but theres plenty of grass areas with shade from trees. No air beds in pools but the beach is on hand for this. Beach and sea very clean although perhaps not the best looking beach we've seen.
Toilets around camp were imaculate the ones by the pool were cleaned/checked must have been every 1/2 hour. They were spotless. As we were coming back the camp did seem to be getting very busy. Caravans are close together but because its set amongest trees it doesn't seem to bad. Not alot of English there. There are alot of mozzies at night we all got bit no matter what we used (bands, spray avon skin so soft). We had quite a few thunder storms don't know if this is the norm for this area. Caravans are small but well equipped, good to have decking outside. No noise at night on camp after midnight. We had a great holiday.
