We had been to this lovely town previously but not stayed at the Parigi. It really is excellent we stayed full board with sea facing room and although not cheap it was a wonderful experience. Every meal was a delight with a good choice and the service was 1st class. We will certainley go back again repeat a tremendous vacation with these lovely people, even the owner was cooking in the kitchen !! I just hope we can afford it with the euro exchange rate.

We were planning to go to villa elisa as this had better reviews but were disappointed after having seen their rooms: expensive for the size and quality and a musty smell. Friendly staff sent us to Parigi.
Parigi has a great location, just on the boulevard. We had a nice room with seaview for a good price, redecorated, part new bathroom. Not too large alltogether but beds are OK. Flatscreen, minibar, airco. The airco is centrally controlled, the reception has to switch that on. The system turns off when opening a window but in our case only fan-tilated, no cooling. Maybe because end of season? But it was great falling asleep on the sound of the mediterranean waves. No cars on the boulevard.
Breakfast buffet was included and had fair choice. Staff was OK but not very 'warm'.

If you like the wake up call bay the morning trains about 5am every day and the sound of passing trains all day long... if breakfast means to you only cookies, sweet cakes, sandwiches from the same ham and half spoiled cheeze and a few tastless cereals, canfruit complot a little bit of scrambled eggs and unwashed fruits every morning plus beeing invisible to the staff then this is the place to go! If you hope to get indoor swimming pool then be wready that they dont have any - the one they have is halfe meter deep and about 2x3 m wide - basicly its a bit bigger tub...and they dont have the internet at all and wifi dos not work??? Ok you might say these are little things that you have see in front of the hotel where to swim and a great fresh fruit,- veggies market about 2 km from the hotel where to buy freshies, well you cant do anything about trains... well Iam not sure how this hotel have got thiese stars must be some kind of lokal system.

I do suggest to look small guest houses with three stars - little, very nice quiet areas with fruit trees in the garden, very hospital staff and totally genuin to the sweet little Bordighera.

How this hotel received such positive reviews amazes me. The staff were unfailingly rude, the hotel is in need of a good deal of paint and the centro benessere's pool was very grubby.

Despite correspondence detailing vegetarian requirements, little or no effort was made to meet these, with an antipasto of either meat or fish placed at our table each night and returned to the kitchen each night I really felt sorry for the single women guests lined up at the back of the dining room like unwanted spectres. Guest asking for variety such as an egg for breakfast were ignored.

The receptionist was, however, rude to just about everyone to be fair so I didn't take it personally. While waiting 1 1/2 hours for my bill, she was skilfully insulting to an elderly French guest who had dared to ask for a place on the beach.

We're going back to Bordighera next year but self-catering. Incidentally, several of the more approachable staff also had their own views in line with ours. This is not a lack of cultural awareness, either. I am a fluent Italian speaker and work as an interpreter and translator.
