I spent three nights at Palazzo Guiderocchi, two alone for business, then my wife joined me for the last night and a short holiday together.
The hotel is in beautiful XV century building right in the middle of Ascoli Piceno (Piazza del Popolo is just a few steps from the hotel).
For parking they have some places in an inner court (all were taken when I arrived), or they have city permits to park around the hotel for free, fortunately I found a place right in front of the hotel. They told me that there is also a garage nearby for 13 Euro/night.
My room was on the last floor, under the roof, probably were servants were housed in the XV century. At that time the ceiling was probably quite low, but now they have removed the ceiling and you can see the structure of the roof of the building, with wood beamings. Combined with the large surface of the room this gives you one of the more spacious double rooms I have ever had. The only things I did not like were the low level of artificial lighting (not having a white ceiling obviously contributes to the relative darkness of the room in the evening), and the low windows (practically from floor level to shoulder level). Being under the roof the room was quite hot, fortunately the air conditioner worked well (even though it was rather noisy, even at minimum fan speed). "Period" furniture was in working order, and the room was properly accessorized, with the usual LED satellite TV, minibar and safe. The bathroom was recently restored and everything was OK.
A couple of things out of order in my room (the safe was not working because of low batteries and one lamp had blown) were promptly replaced by the management.
Nice continental breakfast (included), with a wonderful cappuccino and good cakes, croissants and local bread.
There is also a restaurant on the premises (Rua dei Notari) that we did not try, but I have seen that it ranks high in Tripadvisor.
