We went for a 10 day holiday in Alassio and booked ourselves into the Diana grand.
The hotel feels nice when you walk in but the room we were given was small, dark and unwelcoming. The beds were like boards and the bathroom was very small and not well equipped. Water ran through the the toilet cystern all night and the toilet would not flush. When we told them about this, the staff offered to move us to another room but said that we could have the other room for 1 night only and would then have to move back to the first room. There was no offer to do the move for us - we were just handed the keys of the second room
The room was clean but the lampshades were so old that we thought they were covered in cobwebs and asked the cleaner to clean them. But she demonstrated that in fact they had gone like that with age and were perfectly clean. The only good thing about the room was the sea view.
There is a lovely terrace outside where you can sit and look out to sea.
The breakfast was OK.
The room was very expensive and poor value.
After one night we booked out and found a far nicer hotel. No-one asked us why we were leaving.

We have just returned from a 3-days stay at Diana Grand Hotel in Alassio. We booked there basing on the good reviews in Tripadvisor.com and it proved to be a good choice.
The hotel is in a good position with a wonderful seaview (choose the Panorama Rooms) and not far from the center of Alassio.
We were in a Panorama Superior room and paid 170 EUR per room and night with breakfast.
The food at the hotel restaurant is excellent (excellent quality, good choice) and not at all expensive (25 EUR for a 4-course menu)compared to other good restaurants in Alassio. The staff at the hotel is helpful and friendly.
Only point on the negative side: The hotel is in an old building and, even if renewals are made on a regular basis, it would need more.
Alassio is a very nice town with many shopping opportunities and a variety of good restaurants ("La Prua" and "I Tre Mori" to cite the best ones), and the people are very friendly.

We have been to Alassio before and loved it again.
The warm welcome we received at the hotel felt like coming to stay with friends.
Wonderful view, safe parking, comfortable beds. Not far from the center.
Our children enjoyed the inside pool and private sandy beach, mummy and daddy loved breakfast on the terrace and wine on the balcony in the evernig.
We will certainly go back.

Our third stay at this hotel. A gem in a gem of a city. Ask for a Panorama overlooking the beach, NOT the hill, as other reviewer suggeasted - no idea why they would. Open the window, hear the waves, enjoy their beach, and dine half board with excellent service, and the food is the best. Pasty chef unbelievably good. My family has been staying in Alassio for 40 years, but not this hotel. Not inexpensive but worth it.
Air conditioning, if you need it, weak, wifi iffy; now using hardline but included in cost.
