“This B&B has mastered the art of hospitality and has great views of the Valley..”
This is truly one of the best B&B we stayed at during our 10-day driving tour of the island. Francesco is a top-notch and generous host. Every B&B owner should get tips for running a B&B from him. The B&B is great value for money.
I toyed with giving this place just a 4 star because of our harrowing experience in actually finding the place. Although we were given what seemed a clear map of the area, the map (or the city?) has got the name of an important street (Via Duomo) mislabeled. As a result, we had trouble (and got into trouble) finding the place. We resorted to getting instructions from our handheld GPS, which turned out to be a mistake. We ended up driving through a very narrow road (that only the smallest of their small cars can drive through so we were told by the residents who came to our rescue), and driving and getting stuck under a tight scaffolding that held an ancient house that was under renovation. We couldn't and didn't get out of this difficult situation without incurring a lot of damage to our rental car (and thankfully not to the house). It was unfortunate that we got into this trouble, however, I figured out that it was not the B&B's fault.
We got to the B&B quite stressed out and were welcomed by a gentleman (Francesco's asst, forgot his name) who was sympathetic about what we just went through. After being shown our room, we were taken to the roof-top terrace, which had breathtaking views of the Valley of the Temple. We were then invited to take a seat and to relax. A table was set up for us and white linen laid on top. We were served aperitif and wonderful appetizers (on the house) as we took in the views, relaxed and watched the beautiful sun set. See photo of the set up.
We had a fantastic breakfast the next morning again on the terrace. We were going to abandon our plans to visit the Valley of the Temples as we thought that the views from the B&B terrace were probably as good (and given that we had already seen the ruins and temples in Selinunte and Segesta). However, Francesco insisted that we visit the Valley as it is "very special". He was right, it was really very special. (Francesco, we thank you so much for your assistance. Seeing the Valley was truly a unique and unforgettable experience.).
