I cannot, for the life of me, understand what the other reviewers saw in this hotel. To us, an elderly couple traveling in a group, it was horrible. We did not need WiFi, nor the pool since it was cold outside, nor air conditioning or heating. But we did need a room to get to with a large suitcase, and there was no lift, one floor above the reception. It was beautiful to look at, from afar. From close up it seemed the dream of a designer gone mad. The floor was wooden, in the shower too, which is an excellent playground for fungi when wet. Each step creaked, so did the floor of the WC every time one sat on it. Lights were spaced around in a nice way, but one could not leave a light on in the bathroom while going to sleep; no way to separate it from the room lights. The only positive feature were the meals. Both morning and evening one got very good and plentiful of what Sicily has to offer. Service was also good. This is definitely not a hotel for the odd couple or traveler, because of its position far from the town and bad signposting, indeed it was filled with groups although October is the beginning of the off season.
