We hesitated before staying at this cheap, but obviously flawed hotel. The other reviews here accurately reflect that the Naseem is certainly not the nicest hotel in Muscat, but it is clean(ish), cheap, and in a great location.
I had a lot of trouble deciding on where to stay in Muscat. The luxury hotels were not possible for my price range, and the mid-range hotels looked ok, but they weren't cheap and seemed to lack character. When I got to Muscat, I was very glad that I went to the Naseem instead of other hotels like the Tulip Inn or the City Suites. These hotels are located in a part of town with very little of interest for the cultural tourist. The Naseem, on the other hand, is located right in the center of the old town, on the corniche. It's a minute or two from the souqs and the fish market, and there are tons of restaurants that are reasonably priced very close. If you want Starbucks and TGI Fridays, stay somewhere else, if you want Omani culture, stay here.
As for the rooms, they were ok. We had a decent view of the medina. The sheets seemed clean enough. The Tv did not work, but the bathroom had hot water and we were relatively comfortable.
