“The worst hotel we have ever stayed in.”

The bed covers and pillows smelt. The corridor leading to our room was dark and damp. The furniture looked dated and worn. To cap it all the pipes knocked loudly for some considerable time at 10.30 in the evening and again at 6am in the morning. The room booked for my 88 year old mother-in-law was totally unsuitable for someone with mobility problems. The breakfast table was swarming with flies on uncovered meat platters. When we decided to check out and move onto another hotel the 'manger' was extremely unsympathetic and unhelpful. I got the impression they have many regular visitors who probably get a 'special' rate and don't expect much.

“Bliss”

What a lovely stay - Welcoming hosts who were happy to help in any way they could. Attentive. Staff friendly and smiling. Views from dining room and lounge bar beautiful - across Bonne Nuit Bay . Room large and comfortable. Dry and clean. Meals excellent in the evening and a good continental breakfast.
Would certainly return

Very disappointed with this loosley termed hotel. We had what was supposed to the best room in the house, Pity about the grubby furniture, rusty fittings, broken curtain rail. short curtains in the bathroom. and to add insult to injury two USED guest soaps. Nothing like the description on their leaflet, no hairdryer, clock or telephone. Dining room just as depressing ceiling tiles missing, old fashioned, dark, food disgusting, very bland, no imagination certainly not enough to satisfy, if you could fancy eating it.Practically thrown on to your table didnt help either. It was an unbelievable experience we wont be repeating a mix between Bates Motel and Faulty Towers. How it ever got star ratings is a Complete Mystery.

“Mixed bag”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2010

The hotel is 2* and clearly in need of renovation, however our room and ensuite bathroom were clean and comfortable and the room was cleaned every day, lounge was comfortable, the breakfasts were fine, better than expected &. the receptionist is very friendly and chatty - all positive. BUT on the down side - the hotel enjoys a lovely outlook but despite requesting a window seat after a day or two we were never given one so never got to enjoy the view while we ate! The seats are allocated by the restaurant staff and we were given a seat as far from the window as is possible on the 1st evening and told to sit there every day! We ate dinner there the first night and the food was just ordinary, nothing special, the menu is unimaginative with very limited choice and very similar every night so we opted to eat elsewhere after that. There is a problem with the parking as there are not nearly enough car park spaces for guests. We had read other trip advisor reviews that spoke in glowing terms of how friendly the staff were but, with the exception of the receptionist (who doubled up as barmaid in the evening), we were very disappointed as this did not match our experience.

“Perfect location to stay in Jersey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

We chose this hotel to stay in Jersey for a week for a week for a family wedding. We were a bit concerned because it was just 2 star - but as soon as we arrived it was clear that this was a good choice.
The hotel is just perfect in its position above the little bay. It is true that the hotel is a bit dated but it is kept perfectly clean and the lounge and dining room are to die for!!
When we arrived we were told that as we had booked for 7 nights we got free evening meal. We did take this offer up on three evenings - although we could understand other reviewers not wishing to dine here in the evening. The food is fine but not very imaginative - you could say typical 1970's/80's seaside hotel fare.
But the breakfast is very good - the eggs are cooked to perfection - not something you always get in even expensive places.
Our room was fine although it is true that the bathroom could have done with a renovation. However the shower was a really good powerful spray - again not always what you get!!
The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. I was surprised to see free internet access - both wireless for your own laptop and a communal PC to use - but I only checked e-mails a couple of times - bad habit on holiday !!
Our daughter and family arrived at the end of the week for the wedding and their family room was really good - with a separate room (with a door) for the children.
Lastly - if you want a really lovely evening meal with a great view and perfect sunset - try Corbiere Phare at Corbiere Point (South West corner of Jersey) - really great food and not expensive. They also do good lunches - try the Seafood Salad - bet you've never seen so much seafood on one plate!!!
