had 3 wonderful nights in a real castle...food was excellent and really loved the bedroom...was a bit coo l(middle Dec) but reception fixed us up with an extra heater....lovely decor ...ideal base for Durham Barnard Castle and racing at Sedgefield ...will definitely be back....

If you are sick of chain hotels with corporate colours, where you feel your experiences barely differ, Walworth Castle is a great example of something a little different. You have the reassurance of the Best Western brand combined with the individuality of this independently owned hotel. Interior and exterior do not disappoint and the room I stayed in had a great combination of classic looks and decor with all mod cons.

Conveniently located off the A1M and set in tranquil surroundings, it's a great escape in the North East.

A superb quiet location only minutes from the A1M Jct 58. Just look at the pictures. It really is that good. The chef is first class, using local produce & all for a very reasonable, or dare I say, bargain price. Make sure to get one of the four poster suites if possible, as the more modern "West Wing" has smaller more contempory accommodation, although for the price these rooms are more than adequate.
The staff are friendly & will even show you around the dungeon, if you're brave enough!
I have been there on business several times & was so impressed I returned with my wife for a mini break holiday last Summer.

We really enjoyed our stay at Walworth Castle. We had one of the four poster rooms which was very sopacious, comfortable and well equipped. Good friendly staff and a nice breakfast. Good value too, we would definately stay there again.
