“terrible service!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

We stayed here for our honeymoon. There were many good things such as location, quality of room, cleanliness etc. As follows are the bad things
1. Travel desk - we asked about walks in the area. The woman tried to sell us tours. We didn't want a package etc. just a nice walk in the hills. Once she realised that she couldn't sell us anything she ignored us, picked up the phone, called her friend and had a very long conversation about dinner (I speak French!!!)
2. We never had water left in our room after housekeeping. We called reception and they said water is only for check-in.
3. We were a group for breakfast and took a bottle of water from the buffet - a glass each. For which we were brought a 6 euro bill even though we were all inclusive!
4. We were all inclusive but dinner was very 2 star. It was quantity not quality so don't look for French cuisine here. Everything comes with fries.
5. We booked a scuba diving trip through the hotel. They drove us to the Intercontinental, we had a fantastic dive but they forgot about us and didn't transfer us back to the Hilton. We asked about going back to our hotel after 40 minutes and had to wait another 40 minutes to be taken back.
The good things were as follows
1. Snorkelling is amazing
2. Location
3. Rooms - we had a bungalow with a private pool.

In summary, the downside of our trip was the service and attitude of the staff. Here it seems you pay a premium for the location and name but if you stayed in a cheaper hotel you will be more comfortable and have change!

“great for families”

This was my second trip to Moorea. Last year we stayed at the Intercontinental (which was great as well). This year we brought our kids since I knew they would love snorkeling in a lagoon (warm water, no waves, and beautiful fish). Luckily we brought our own masks (their selection of masks/fins were beat up and very limited). They also provided kayaks and paddleboats for use. The snorkeling in front of the hotel was surprisingly spectacular..lots of coral, fish, etc. and even some sharks at night! We stayed in a garden bungalow which was very nice and clean and had a plunge pool as well. The staff was friendly, the hotel was beautiful, and the atomsphere serene.
If you are the adventurous type I recommend renting a car for 24 hours (we used Albert tours/rentals both times) visiting some other beaches to snorkel and driving up to the Belvedere and hiking the 3 coconuts trail. The trail can be muddy and slick after the rain but a nice hike through the trees. On a clear day the hour or so hike takes you up to the saddle of a mountain were you can view both sides of the island. The car is also a great reason to go out and eat at a new restaurant or go to the store to stock up on snacks. We did find a nice lunch spot just a short walk from the Hilton called Lilikoi. Overall a great experiece!

“It's what you dream of...”

This was our 2nd visit to this property. The first time we had a beach front bungalow and more recently we stayed in an over-water bungalow. They were both great, clean, spacious and quiet. Hilton has improved the property since taking it over. The bungalows have their own private pool. The overwater bungalows are quieter because Hilton changed the direction of the wood planks on the pier leading to the bungalows (lengthwise now instead of crosswise) which greatly reduced the noise from the golf cart type vehicles delivering food, suitcases, restocking honor bar, etc. in the overwater bungalows. The lagoon area is crystal clear with abundant fish, helped by the bio awareness and fish/coral nursery onsite. The overwater bungalows have a spacious deck and and fresh water shower, along with an easy water entry ladder off each lower deck. The overwater crepe restaurant has great fish viewing with several outdoor tables set along the overwater walkway. The crepes were wonderful, but the restaurant was only open for dinner because of low occupancy in January. I did miss the wonderful breakfast crepes we enjoyed on a previous trip. The Polynesian dance show in the main restaurant was great! And free for the viewing for those not eating in the restaurant. The front desk is happy to schedule dinner reservations (and a ride) to outside restaurants. We found Antione (the front desk manager) to be very accommodating and took extra care to ensure we were aware of all amenities and that we were happy with our bungalow. We can't wait to return!

Room Tip: If you email them directly, prior to your arrival, they might send you a map of the property and off...

“Bungalow Bliss”

We stayed 3 nights in a Overwater Bungalow prior to boarding the Princess Cruise. Had a wonderful relaxing time. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly and met of all our needs.

Beautiful property and bungalow. The one thing that could use improvement was their jacuzzi. You had to heat it up like a personal jacuzzi and was very slow, would take all day. Not very useful.

But all in all a great relaxing stay. And the water was clear by the bungalows for great snorkeling.

We stayed at the Hilton for our honeymoon in September. I recommend staying in an over-the-water bungalow if you can. The snorkeling around the bungalows here is amazing because there is so much coral and vegetation around them. I didn't see any other rooms though so I can't tell you what they were like. I can tell you that the reviews about the annoying roosters are spot on. But this will happen at any hotel, roosters are practically the national bird of the island and they are all over. If you stay in the OTW bungalows the sound doesn't bother you.The rooms are amazing and we spent most of the time on the deck of our bungalow and in the water snorkeling. I recommend you bring your own mask and snorkel and use their fins. The crepe bar at the hotel is wonderful and it is fun to watch them feed the sharks. It does get pretty breezy here at night though so bring a sweater. The breakfasts were good and there was always plenty to choose from. I don't recommend spending money on the Polynesian show here. Instead head to the crepe bar to have dinner and then head over to watch the end of the show and sit on the beach. We heard the food wasn't that great at the show and it is pricey. When you get there ask the conceirge to get you a taxi into town. It is inexpensive and they drop you off at the market/bank area and you can pick up some beer/bottled water at the supermarket. They also have cheese, crackers, champagne, wine, everything you could want. I wouldn't have bought the bottles I did from the duty free in LA, instead I would have bought it here if I had known ahead of time. Make sure you ask the hotel to get you on Ziggy's shark and sting ray tour. It is the one you want to be on, sooooo much fun! If anyone needs assitance with a travel agent recommendation let me know. I think the key to getting the most out of this trip (if you are from the east coast or mid-west) is to book through a california travel agent who has been here before and can give you the best tips. We went around to look at all the hotels when they were dropping people off and picking them up from tours and the airport and I researched this hotel a ton before we went but I can 100% say we picked the right place!!!!
