One night, £50 en suite, B & B. First impressions were not good as the hotel is being "Renovated". It looked a little like it was being demolished. These renovations have now been on-going for many years, but for little to show. The entrance and staircase were pretty revolting which left me a little apprehensive of things to come. OK, the room. Once I removed my shoes, my socks actually stuck to the carpet. The single small wardrobe had a layer of dust 1/4 inch thick on top. I noticed this as the unit was not very high, at eye level, and not out of reach of the cleaning staff my any means. The rest of the room just needed badly renovation and refitting. The bathroom was adequate. After a night out with friends, I was subjected to what I could only describe as an "acoustic barrage of vigorous neighbourly activity" from both sides, partially amplified by the thin walls and the non so rubust beadheads. Breakfast consisted of a help yourself to whatever was available, i.e. cold hard boiled eggs from the previous day, non-fresh self-baked rolls, curled up a the edges ham and cheese, and what tasted suspiciously like powdered orange juice. All in all, I expected much more from my £50 and was disappointed.
Room Tip: Choose the Richmond Inn hotel adjacent. It is a little pricier, but will save you having to unstick...
