“A bizarre and extremely unpleasant experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2011

I am flabbergasted that a few of the earlier reviews rate this guest house so highly. I can only assume the feedback is ficticious and has been left by the owners themselves, or possibly by someone who is on day release from a mental home.
The rooms are well below acceptable standard and hygene is certainly not a priority with the owners. I was greeted with numerous black curly hairs in both the shower tray AND the wash basin resulting in me showering at the local gym to avoid using the hotel facilities. When I mentioned it to the owner I was told that they were not there before I arrived (I must have taken them with me and planted them).
The noise from the traffic was unbearable so I had very little sleep.
The breakfast was "bad greasy spoon" at best, with the cheapest meat available served.
I was asked by both the owners what time I planned to leave despite the fact it was only 7.30am in the breakfast area. Another guest commented how they were pleased to be leaving. All in all a very unpleasant experience and one I wouldnt wish on my worst enemy.

“Stay away , you have been warned - value your health”

I went for a lesuire trip to western super mare for a couple of days and i had originally booked els-where but was phoned at the last minute to be told that the hotel was over booked would you like to try the saxonia. I checked the website and it seemed good enough but i was'nt keen on the fact that there were loads of pictures of the owners and not the hotel. i arrived at reception to be greated by the owner who seeemed that i had put him to trouble he seemed more than happy to get me out of his sight. When i arrived at my room it was DISGUSTING ABSOULTY filthy furnishings. I will not be surprised if the owner replies to this review and disagrees with everything. The breakfast was feeble the susages were cheap meat and horrible and the egg was really well done.

You have been warned to stay away from this guest house i could go on writing but i may run out of space on the webpage so in short - Food - Rubbish, Room - vile and owners - arrogant

“clean & cosy but traffic too noisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2010

Very clean and well run guest house with all the comforts of home in your room.
However, the traffic noise is horrendous if on the front of the house and it kept us awake much to our annoyance.
The hosts are friendly enough however, we were telephoned to ask our check out time before checkout time which made us feel they wanted to get rid of us. Other than this the breakfast was satisfactory and we would stay again if on the back of the house.

“A nice surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2008

After reading the reviews I was a little apprehensive as I was booking for a party of 9, but I was pleasantly surprised. On arrival we got a lovely welcome from Sandy, the rooms were spotlessly clean roomy and lovely and warm. Plenty of tea and coffee available. met John later , he was equally as friendly, gave us advice on bars and restaurants. Breakfast was a joy, full english breakfasts cooked fresh, lots of toast butter jam and marmalade., eggs cereal, fruit nothing was missing. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the shops , bars and sea front , I would definately go back to the Saxonia if we return to Weston.

“arrived 2 mins late for breakfast - lucky to be fed!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2007

This was a really strange experience, the owners were not unfriendly but could have been more helpful. I was taking a break alone and the "You've tried the rest now try the best" combined with "close to the beach, town etc" sounded good.
I was put in room 7 or was that a cupboard with 7 on the door? Manoevering around the room was not easy and l had to move the chair to access the ensuite.
Booking using booking.com meant that l spent far too much - book directly with guest house and save a fair bit. I enjoy walking but the walk to the town and beach was a long one - there are loads of guest houses closer to the beach ( and cheaper too).
The TV in my room was 19 years old and had no remote so it was annoying having to get up to turn it off just as i was falling asleep.
The shower was rubbish not very easy to use and not too clean.
On arriving 2 mins or less late for breakfast i was lucky to be fed at all - the owner had to check with her husband wether it was convenient for him to cook. According to the book in the room breakfast was still being served for another 15 mins and there was only myself and one other person staying with them at the time!
The breakfast was good though.
