Stayed in this hotel over Christmas. The whole place needs refurbishing and plainly has not had anything done to improve it for a long time. It seems run down. The rooms are gloomy and tatty. The bathrooms appear grubby even though they are not, they just need freshening up. The breakfasts were self-service and the hot food was cold. The food is not even good gastropub level. It is expensive for what it offers. It is appears to be understaffed and seriously underfunded. However the manager and the staff are charming and helpful and are quite the best thing about the hotel.

I booked this online as a twin room and upon arrival reorganised my schedule resulting in a single room only being required. The room was old in decor with water stained wallpaper, ceiling paper hanging off in places and very poor lighting, all items I could live with for one night. The evening meal was cold, staff run off their feet, and upon retiring to bed found springs loose in the tired old mattress.

The hot water tap on the sink didn't work, the bathroom tiny, and worse still the shower didn't work as the shower head was broken.

Upon checking out no reduction was given for downgrading the room and after advising the staff of the failures during my stay no concern was reflected and I they commented that they hoped I had enjoyed my stay.

Never again will I venture to a brooks hotel and not check the room standard before accepting the key. Stay clear if possible.

Stayed one night at the hotel and was badly bitten by bed bugs. Have never suffered this before, even in much cheaper places. Follow up after complaint was inadequate too. Very disappointed.

Food, service, staff all excellent. Had our office Xmas party and what a great night had by all. Room was good and clean . Phil the manager was very helpful and seemed to be everywhere. Would highly recommend.
