“Just the job!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Stayed at the Beansheaf for 3 nights whilst on business in the area. I arrived at about 8.30pm to check in, and despite the restaurant having stopped serving food for 30 mins, they were more than happy to cook me a meal!

I'd booked a single en-suite room, which was fairly small but functional. The bathroom was rather on the small side, but did the job well. The room was cleaned impeccably every day. My only minor gripe was that the internet seemed a bit tempremental at night, but the staff were quick to reboot it on asking!

The restaurant food was excellent, very good portions and honest food. A thoroughly recommended family-run hotel.

“Comfy, good staff and value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I stayed here with my daughter as we were going to flamingoland the next day. My daughter loved the origami towels left on her bed and the free J20 is a nice touch for kids. Young lady on reception was extremely polite, welcoming and friendly. Room was nice and comfy and nice and clean, as too the bathroom. Only complaint I would have with room would be that the tv was a bit temperamental as to which channels it would show. Lady behind the bar was very helpful. The young lad behind the bar wasnt rude but he wasnt that friendly either and seemed a bit stressed.
We had a meal at night and although the bar area is small, it was so inviting, friendly and cosy, the log fire is lovely. Meals are great value for money and the portions are HUGE!!. Well worth a visit.

“Pretty nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Six of us had a meal here, to celebrate my sisters 30th birthday. The resturant is very nicely decorated, quite trendy to be fair, but keeps it's country charm with the log fire buring away in the corner. It was a Sunday evening, and we were pretty much the only people in the resturant. The service was friendly and attentive, the music was turned up as per our request. We waited a little longer than expected for our food to come out, but it probably was just worth the wait! Really nice homemade food, generous portions, priced at around £10 per standard dish. We left very full, and genuinely pleased with our evening. I'd recommend it, however, I do worry how they'd manage if the resturant was busy...

“Very nice rooms and good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

We went there with our friends for the weekend. Room was very nice, with small touches (chocolate, J2o drinks) and comfy bed. Bathroom was ok, not great - a bit dank and very small. Still very clean and with nice, soft towels.
Pub and restaurant in hotel are very nice as well, we ate our dinners there and I must say that food was very good and very resonable in price.
We also had breakfast in hotel, but because I'm not a big fan of English breakfast I didn't particulary liked them. Don't get me wrong, food was good (I tried bacon, eggs and toasts one day) but I prefer lighter meals for a breakfast and they haven't got anything apart from milk, cereals, pancakes and toasts + jam. So, if you ok with full English it's definitely something for you, if you don't - may not be worth to pay £8 for the breakfast :)
All staff members either in hotel and restaurant/pub were great and really helpfull :)
Hotel is on the main road between Pickering and Malton, but we didn't suffer from traffic noises. They have a car park, just next to the hotel, but no shops/cafes/pubs (apart from the one in hotel) around. It's a good place to stay if you have a car and you are planning to do sightseeing :)
