The OK - Location - central location situated on a busy roundabout so slightly noisy,
The not so good - Old rooms everything double painted including the light switches.Very cluttered with no real sense of purpose,some people may like but personally difficult to keep clean which leads to the next - bathrooms the cardinal sin.....hairs all over the place and not well maintained.
The Bad - breakfast food full of dog and cat hairs....sent the plate back to change but still came with hairs under the egg, not a great way to start your day.
number one son then told me later he saw the lady drop a plate on the floor in the kitchen as next to the dining room......also when checking out I did see an array of dog or cat feeding bowls in the kitchen........
hygiene and food safety seem to be well below any uk standard.
dine at your own risk.

If you want Travelodge style accommodation then this is not for you. If you want freindly personal service with individual homely rooms and one to one dervice and attention then this is the place. The food is wonderful as are the hosts.

Very disappointed with the decor in the hotel. Everywhere was cluttered and over the top in the lounge area and very dull and dark. In the rooms, the shower was non existent. Very little water and it was always cold. Also there was no central heating in the rooms till after 8am in the morning so we always woke up cold. The passage way, hallway and stairs were also on time switchers so if you wanted to go downstairs before 8am in the morning I had to do this in the dark. Very disappointed with stay after reading other reviews. We were supposed to be there for 4 nights but left after the second night because it was so bad!!!!!

Very warm welcome, very hospitable, unbelievable attention to detail: bathrobes, note cards and envelopes, file with information on what to do in the area. Would highly recommend. Only 2 downsides: 1) the shower wasn't very powerful (so says my boyfriend but I had a lovely bath) but the water was warm 2) it's on a main road so there is traffic noise, but as Pickering itself is only about 3 main roads this seems unavoidable wherever you stay and the noise wasn't constant (mainly in the morning). I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again, I had a lovely time there.
