We were extremely disappointed with this hotel. The central location caused it to be horribly noisy with people yelling out in the street until very late at night. The overall impression was of tired shabby decor and overpriced rooms and the showering facilities were inadequate. The hospitality tray was poor and left much to be desired. The breakfast buffet looked quite interesting but I did not get chance to try it as none of the dishes were replenished once empty.
But my main cause of concern was the naked light bulb on the half- landing bannister which had no reason to be positioned there. I burned my arm quite badly on this, resulting in three hospital trips once I got home plus a course of antibiotics and a week off work. The proprietor told me it had been uncovererd like that for 23 years, and he clearly did not think it necessary to do anything about it. I can think of better ways to spend £80.
