“What a perfect party house for a large group”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2010

We have just come back from a long weekend staying in Admirals house. What a perfect place for a large group of friends to stay. The house itself was spotless, and very welcoming. The positives of this place is the size of the house, you could always find a place if you wanted a quiet time to yourself. The kitchen was so well equiped, as was the utility room. the lounge area just so perfect for us all to sit together and the views from the balcony just breathtaking. The only negative is that there were 3 bedrooms on the ground floor and only one was en-suite, with no other bathroom facilities until you went to the second floor. It would be nice to have just a toilet in that area for those of us who get up in the night for the bathroom. The two family bathrooms were beautifully furnished and once again very clean, as were the other 2 en-suites. We were all sorry to be leaving, and would love to go back some time. We also found that as there were so many of us, the pool seemed like it belonged to the house which we loved.
I would recommend Admirals House for its proximity to the beach, the beautiful house, and the cleanliness of this property (the champagne and fruit basket also helped).

“A room with an exceptional view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2009

We have stayed in two of the mews houses in this small development during August 2008 and 2009. Our reason for staying in Admirals Mews has to be the location. The view from the upstairs lounge and dining area is spectacular, looking out over the harbour and bay. There is a balcony with table and chairs which you can sit out on if the weather is good.
It is two minutes walk from the beach and shops which gave everyone in our group some independence. Our two daughters were able to wander down to the shops on their own and so was Gran. On fine days we walked barefoot to the beach and returned to sit on the balcony for lunch.
The houses are clean, modern and light. Unfortunately there has always been something that we have had to call the maintenance man to fix, but they have been quick and efficient in doing it. One bedroom does back on to the road, but I've never found it to be terribly noisy - just the usual lads wandering past after a few beers. I've never been kept awake. This year I did find the mattress a bit worn, but when I told the management they said they would change it (unfortunately after I had left).
I'm not sure that Admirals Mews is the five star experience it claims to be, and it may be a little overpriced, but overall I would definitely recommend staying there if you want easy access to all that Saundersfoot has to offer.

“Lovely Short Break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2008

We stayed at the Sail Loft at Admirals Mews, Saundersfoot for a Valentine break this year. This property is in the corner of the development, between the Captains House, and the four properties with balconies. The accommodation is all on one level, with the lounge at the front, and the kitchen and bedroom at the back. It was well maintained, and had a small sitting out area (although it was too cold!). Storage heaters provided ample warmth. There was also the use of the indoor heated pool, which was included in the price. I would recommend this for a short break, but the bedroom backed straight onto the road, which was quite noisy at night. I would definitely go back again.

“Great Place For A Quiet Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2007

Admirals Mews is a collection of 6 self catering units forming a little courtyard in Saundersfoot, looking out over the bay.
The upside down houses (bedrooms on the ground floor, living space on the upper floor .. to maximise the views) are nicely appointed but I wouldn't say they were the 5 star thing of dreams as stated on the website. They are functional and nice, that's it.
There is a very small indoor pool but the resistance machine means swimming for exercise is just about possible ..... and there's always the sea which was clean and warmer than any other UK sea I'd been in.
The houses are a great base for a week's fresh air and exercise but I'm not sure how small child friendly they would be, other than the big unit (sleeps 14 from memory) because of the upper level balconies.

  • Liked — the location, great views amd convenient for the shops / restaurants
  • Disliked — the fridge which wouldn't chill properly
