“clean comfortable hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

we booked a double room here for one night.when checking in we were given clear helpful instructions on meal times, codes for the front door, car parking etc etc.had no real problems with the room, large double bed,lcd tv,tea /coffee making facilities, balcony, ensuite shower with plenty of towels etc etc.we had a room at the front of the hotel facing a slightly busy road, but this didn't cause any real problems with noise etc.breakfast was very good with good service.saundersfoot is a lovely family friendly place with a great beach and some nice pubs(enjoyed the captains table).the hotels in a great location, less than five mins walk from the beach.if i were to fault one thing with our stay i'd say the rooms are a little on the small side for £85 per night (double room) but this wouldn't stop me from staying at this hotel again.

“Good, comfortable one night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

Arrived and greeted warmly by staff. Familly room was fine and quite spacious. Wonderful large corner bath in the en-suite. Excellently positioned in saudersfoot, but you have to look carefully for the car park but very grateful that they had one.
Breakfast was fresh and good.
Would stay here again and would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

“They should rename this place Fawtly towers !?!”

Reading previous reviews we were really looking forward to our stay at the Gower hotel. 1 previous review stated that the car park was difficult to get to and hard to find, so very true! We then checked into the hotel, we were given the keys to the rooms, the bed was made but the only only problem was that we don't think they changed the sheets as either a dog or a bear had slept inthebed night before and left half of their coat behind... They did then give us fresh bedding immediately saying that in house laundry/ cleaners were cutting costs and labour by not changing the bed !!! ? We were advised that if were eating in the restaurant to book as spaces were limited. As we did. The service was fair in the restaurant which made up for the poor standard and quality of the food. This was brought to the chefs attention, who then came out of the kitchen making a scene, we explained that we wasn't happy which made him very irate! It was like a basil fawtly moment!!! The chef was restrained and pushed back into the kitchen. We then left the restaurant for our own safety explaining that we sort the bill out in the morning.we then went to our room and then had the pleasure of the chef banging on his saucepans for the next hour as our room was just above the kitchen.with what we've just written do you think that we'd return to the hotel ?we would just like to warn other victims of the Gower hotel.

We have no direct response to this review other than to say we are a very respectable and respected, professional hotel. We pride ourselves on only the highest standards with regards to customer care, hospitality, cleanliness and our excellent restaurant and bar.
All that we will say on this matter is that the police were called on two occasions following abusive behaviour and received several complaints from other guests with regard to the individuals concerned. One of the guests was later removed from the hotel by the police.
Since this incident we have sought advice from local police with regard to protecting staff and other customers from extremely rare incidents of this nature. Certain measures have now been put in place to ensure that incidents of this nature do not occur in future. We do not tolerate abusive language, actions or alchohol related abuse in any way at our hotel and the safety and protection of our guests and staff is paramount.

“Overall a good experience”

We stayed in room 31, a family room with a double and single bed. It was Clean, fresh, with and nice view out to Monkstone. As a 3 star hotel it was very nice and overall a good experience. The staff are very freindly and accomodating, the facilities are good, the Welsh breakfast was great (I love Lava Bread but it is not everyones choice - the rest is typical cooked breakfast and lovely). We also had a family party there in the evening and the food was good, bar good, service good. I would recommend. The only minus is the bed which had a cheap mattress which was rather uncomfortable - the extra money spent on quality mattresses make a huge difference!!
