“Double check position, and get in writing/e-mail the address.”

Please double check this accomodation, The owner denies anything that is discussed on phone.
We had two in depth conversations (he was on mobile in the garden for first) we discussed his position, how far out on the Glasgow road from Fort William was the cottage. Even when i phoned again and booked another room for our relatives there was no mention that this cottage was in Stirling.
When we rang to inform him we were running late was the only time we found out the exact location, we then informed him we were to late and would not be abble to make Stirling hedenied all conversations and promptly charged my Visa for two rooms.

Please double check or it could be a costly episode for you as it was for me

“relaxing and homely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2010

I absolutely loved this b&b because the house has a very relaxed atmosphere. I felt this was mainly due to the traditional decor and quirky ornaments and memorabilia the owner has collected from his travels. Its not one of those modern b&b's that dont always feel that welcoming. I felt at ease in the lounge area sitting with my feet up as if it was my own home. The bedroom/shower and toilet were clean and the bed really comfy. We had a lovely cooked breakfast and plenty tea/coffee. I would recommend this b/b to anyone who prefers a more homely and interesting atmosphere rather than everything being "just so". Alison, Jim and Lewis from Glasgow

“Would Not Recommend”

Not much to say about this place as we did not end up staying here simply due to the fact that our greeting upon arrival was less than friendly. We arrived at 3:00 p.m. and were met by the host who was clearly unreceptive to us being an hour early and stated "trust me, you don't want to come in here right now". He was horribly unfriendly and unwelcoming. We clearly felt that we were imposing.

“Thank you Jon and family for everything”

My friend and I were staying for one night, but were comfortable that we stayed another. Jon let us know there would be a ceilidh at the community center, and guests that came down from Fort William for the dance invited us to go along with them. I live in a small town and it felt great to be included in the lives of people who live there. My room looked out on a field, and it was great to open my curtain in the morning to the sight of cows. I highly recommend Hillview Cottage as a number one spot to stay.

“Fantastic B&B”

We stayed at this B&B for only one night between Edinburgh and Loch Ness, and we would definitely return. We booked the B&B online and were allocated the family room for the our stay which was very big and comfy. En suite bathroom was very clean and we had a flat screen TV with Freeview channels which is just what we wanted after a busy city break.

We had a very warm welcome upon arrival and a recommendation to a great pub for dinner - The Lion & Unicorn near Thornhill. The B&B is only a short drive from Stirling Castle so is in a good location. Breakfast was included and was not only excellent but plentiful. Plus, our stay was only £60 for the night so was excellent value for money. We would definitely return to this B&B, hopefully for a longer stay next time.
