“Cheesecake Heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Gatwick as we had a early morning flight! Arrived at Gatwick by train and got the shuttle bus! Very good value at £3 and did not have to wait long for it! Did not take long to check in and room was easy to find! Room very modern and clean with TV with HD Channels! Pay per view channels are available but we did not bother with them!

Went into Restaurant for a meal, they had offers on that night with 3 courses for £20 but we opted to have ribeye steak of the normal menu preseeded by a garlic bread! Food was exerlent! served piping hot! Good sized portions too! I had seen on here that people had said their restarant is expensive but quite frankly with ribeye steak at £18.99 you would pay that sort of price in a quality restaraunt anyway! i dont mind paying as long as its good and it was! I followed that up with a slice of Honeycomb cheesecake! I love my cheesecake and i have to say thats the best cheesecake i have had anywhere!

Overall the staff at the Hoilday Inn are very helpfull and attentive! The waitress in the restaraunt even came up through the evening asking if we wanted her to pour the wine! not had that anywhere else! A fantastic start to our holiday! We will definately stay there again next time we need a hotel before flying!

“Ok for the purpose needed”

Myself and partner stayed here for the night before a early morning flight from gatwick airport at the beginning of january ,12 . We had booked through holiday extras as we got the room and parking for 4 nights at a good price .
On arrival we were checked in quickly , we asked for a room we could smoke in and were given a smoking room which pleased us as we didnt think this would be possible . The room was clean with everything we needed although we only had channels 1 & 3 .
We wanted to eat in the resturant we got a table but then the service went down hill quickly we ordered our food then when it came out my partners £19.95 sirlion steak looked like a supermarket basic brand piece of meat and mine was not what i had ordered the waiter asked what i had ordered which was chicken fajitas after some time my partner had finshed his so called meal the waiter returned with steak fajitas i told him this was still wrong but he didnt seem to understand what i was saying i decided to eat what had been brought to me as i was hungry and it was getting late , We complained and did get 50% of our bill but it was still a big mess up for us . I would stay at this hotel again if flying from gatwick but defo would not use the resturant .

Dear Guest,

Thank you for staying with us and, thank you for your comments. We were all pleased to see that you enjoyed the hotel overall, but were disappointed that you did not enjoy your experience in the restaurant.

I am sure you will have noticed both when you were here, and also on Trip Advisor, that we have a great reputation and work hard to maintain it. I would wholeheartedly apologise if we have fallen short on this occasion, and would love the opportunity to change your opinion of our restaurant.

Please let me know when you are coming back, as I would like to welcome you and ensure you get to experience the best we have to offer.

Kind regards,

“Great airport hotel”

If you want a hotel to spend a night in before jetting off then you could do much worse than come here. The rooms were comfortable and clean .... had a good nights sleep. We ate in the restaurant, which was good - service was great, food delivered quickly and hot. The bar was busy but no problem getting a drink. All in all a pleasant stay. Booked with Lastminute.com (they had a special offer of 20% off beverages and food - which meant that the food prices were ok as they were a little on the high side which is to be expected at such a convenient hotel for the airport). Shuttle bus took ten minutes to get to the south terminal, cost £3 each way. Overnight in the car park was £10.00

“Good choice for a stay before or after your flight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We had a good last minute deal and were very pleased with the hotel. We didn't need to wait to long for the bus which was just a short journey to the hotel from the airport/rail station (£3 each way). Service at reception was very good and the room/bathroom were very nice and we had a very good nights sleep. We went to the Ye Olde Six Bells and had a lovely meal much cheaper than the hotels restaurant but took breakfast at the hotel. It was quite expensive but really nice with great choice so could justify the cost. Overall would recommend if you can get a good deal.

“Fine for and airport hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

My husband and I spent one night here after booking a Top Secret Hotel through Lastminute.com and getting the room for £36. We had to queue for a while at check-in but once we got there the staff were very helpful and even gave us toothbrushes as we had forgotten ours.

The room itself was clean with everything you would need for one night, but the mattress on the bed was awful and in very much need of replacing. Also if you want WiFi then this isn't the place to be as its extortionate.

We didn't eat in the restaurant at all and followed other reviews advice and took a walk to the Ye Olde Six Bells (although make sure you get decent directions). The food there wasnt spectacular either but a hearty meal for much less than the hotel restaurant prices.

The shuttle bus was also fine although when we left to go back to the airport the driver was extremely rude to one of our fellow passengers. However we were back at the airport in a few minutes so cant really complain.

All in all it suited our needs for one night and I was happy to pay £36 for it. I'm not sure I'd be happy to pay more.
