“Not Great”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We stayed here end of January before our flight. The welcome we received from reception was very good. The room was fine it served it purpose.
Where I have the problem is with the food.As we had been travelling a fair way we thought we would go to the bar and order some food in the evening. We ordered a burger and a lasagne. The burger was that dry I thought it had been left on the hot plate for 5 hours. The lasagne came with garlic bread which was stone cold the lasagne was curled up at the ends and very dry. A potion of chips was also ordered half were cold half were hard. These meals cost over £35.00.
I did complain to reception and also spoke to Food and beverages manager he apoligised and asked what i wanted him to do for me. I explained I was not in the habit of complaining and I wasnt looking for compensation. I just wanted him to know that the food they were serving was appalling and the staff who served us were not interested in serving us. We felt that we were a hinderance instead of customers.I told the manager I would be returning on 11/2/12 after my holiday . He said he would see me then. This did not happen.
All in all the hotel really need to get there act together with ref to food served in the evening.
On a plus point the breakfast was very good indeed.

Thank you for your feedback which we put to good use as soon as we received it following your stay.

Despite the issues you had in the bar I am glad you had a great welcome and felt the other areas of the hotel lived up to your expectations.

“Not really that goos at all”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Firstly I'd like to say that the staff were very helpful and friendly.....and apologetic, but sadly this can only go so far before you start to lose patience with things. I expect that there is a difference in room you are given if you are a person just using the hotel , or a person using the hotel with the airport parking deal.

Sadly we were the latter, as i'm sure a lot of people do the same thing, unfortunately we appeared to have been given the shabby department near the top of the hotel. The bathroom doorhandle was falling off, the toilet flush came off when we used it and the bathroom floor was so grimy there was no way i was going to stand on it in my bare feet. We later discovered it was soggy under the tiles as they moved and squelched when you stood on them.

Also, we had booked a triple room and discovered it only had enough toiletries, towels etc for two - so overall i probably wouldn't be venturing there again. Sorry Holiday Inn... you're usually pretty good, but not this time!!

Room Tip: try a different hotel!!!

“An unfair review”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

This review is going to be unfair, I'll say that now and get it out of the way.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn last night before catching a flight from Heathrow. Once we found the hotel, which appears to be in the middle of a labyrinth (they do warn you that your satnav probably won't work properly if you read the e mails..), it took a long time to find a space in the crowded car park, lesson number one - drop your bags at reception before parking, it might be a long walk.

However, having braved the freezing weather, don't think that was the hotel's fault but more on that in a bit, we got to check in, check in was a dream, very easy very pleasant, Jericho (I think that was his name - apologies if it's not) was lovely very welcoming absolutely top class customer service, we even got a smoking room for my smelly wife ;)

We went up to our room and this is where I am going to be unfair, there were a few issues with the room, but we didn't ask for any of them to be put right so I can't really judge the hotel properly, however you do expect the TV in your room to be tuned to more than three versions of BBC 1. The room was also very very cold and the heating wasn't having much effect on it.

However we weren't going to be in the room long so not bootherng to report it and wait for maintenance we went to the restaurant in reception. Again the service was fantastic, from all of the staff down there, the food was excellent if a little pricy, but this is an airport hotel so got to expect that I suppose.

We used the hotel to park as well and the total cost is about the same as using a long term car park so I don't feel ripped off, the service more than made up for the small problems and we will be coming back next time we fly out of Heathrow. It is close to the airport and the Hoppa service is very efficient. All in all a good stay

Room Tip: If you're in room 460 make sure they have retuned the television !

Thank you very much for your feedback and especially the great comments about Jericho and the fantastic service in the restaurant and at front desk.

I am sorry that there were a few issues in the room on arrival. Whilst these certainly should not have bene there I assure you that had you let us know we would have done our best to try and resolve them. Either way we will do our best to ensure we do a better job of spotting any issues in advance.

Many thanks and best regards,

“If you want a good nights sleep don't book here! ... A form of torture to try and sleep!... Or take ear plugs!!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I have stayed in many of the hotels around heathrow before and found this to be very well located and easy to find off the m4.
Parking was busy but was only a short walk to reception.
The room was of A good standard and clean which was lovely to see.
However there was a constant loud droning noise which I can only describe as an industrial size fan for the kitchens or air conditioning.. Whichever I am not sure! However I assumed it would stop at some point during the night so went off to bed!... It didn't! I admit it did get turned down slightly at around 1am but started up loudly at around 5am!!! So I had very little sleep and what I had was disturbed! Which was not what I needed before a very important interview the next day!!! .. Maybe if your going to stay here bring earplugs?!

Thank you for your feedback.

I am very sorry about the noise you experienced above your room. We have now been able to identify what caused this.

Whilst we will try and do our best to ensure there are no issues in the room please do always let our Duty Manager know (available 24hours a day) and they will try and resolve any issues straight away. I appreciate this should not be necessary but we would be very grateful for the opportunity to try ad fix anything that is not right.

“Shambolic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Stayed for three night on business. The first thing to notice is that the parking is horrendous. Just not enough spaces. I had to park round the back of the hotel on a kerb on a double yellow line each night. My parking ticket was validated for 3 days but on the second day would not let me out. Took me a long time to alert a receptionist to open the barrier meaning a big queue of cars had to wait behind me. £12 a night for that.

On checking in the receptionist said he would try to find me a “nice room” as I was a platinum member of Priority Club. Then he told me that as I was staying for 3 nights it would “difficult” to find me a nice room. Strange!

The room was ordinary, faded but clean. The bed and bedding were uncomfortable. The bathroom was very old and the surfaces of the sink were discoloured. Again it was clean. No mini bar in the room.

The TV channels are a mess. I could not get BBC1 of they were showing HD programs. The set said to retune to another channel but this was not available. I asked reception who said “BBC is not working”. The other channels did not match the TV guide and seemed to be randomly arranged.

The service in the main restaurant was awful. The food is decent but rather pricey. Regarding the restaurant service, on one evening I had to wait one and a quarter hours for my meal. Other diners had the same problem and left in disgust. The chef out came and apologised to me and said that all the diners had arrived at the same time, but the place was not busy so I think this was not true. As I ate my dinner at 10:15 pm they started to set-up the adjacent tables for breakfast, which is something I hate. Then a lady came by vacuuming the carpet. Really bad. When I had finished my main, the waiter came and asked me to settle up as they were closing, and so despite my lengthy wait I was being thrown out of the restaurant. Then they charged me 10% service charge.
