just got back from this hotel as soon as we arrived we got a very warm friendly welcome we were only there for one night,our room was compact but nice and clean there was no wardrobe but you could hang your clothes on a hanger in the corner the toilet and shower room is as big as a caravans,(how big do you need it)a mini kitchen in a wardrobe sized cupboard,handy for a snack,staff was very pleasant and a very nice Full English which wasnt swimming in grease,we had a look in our nieces room it had a nice four poster bed in,and some lovely old peices of furniture even an old fire range,a small well stocked bar in reception area with a nice log fire to sit by,A NICE PLACE TO LAY YOUR HEAD DOWN,£50 for 2 with breakfast,bargain,if you want a modern room stay over the road in the Ramada and pay double that to lay your head down,and NO breakfast,will go back again,advice to owner get a window cleaner,thats my only moan,

A great little hotel,excellant location,the rooms where very clean and comfortable and the staff very helpfull and friendly and the food superb.

Went on a two day deal and was somewhat disappointed with the hotel appearance both in reception which was too small and the outside which was littered with cigarette butts and bottles waiting to go to the tip. The union flag was lying on the floor and the prolific notices about lunches etc were held down by enormous sandbags. Picky I suppose but not a good advert for the hotel. But the food was fantastic. Our room was nice too but it was one of the better rooms. The staff were friendly and efficient especially the dining staff.

Booked a deal direct with the hotel, overnight stay for two with 5 course meal, bottle of wine and breakfast for £89. The hotel itself looks nothing like the pictures on the net, the reception area is very unwelcoming, dated and unclean and the sofas where very worn. Our twin room was small and again dated, however, the building is listed and there was a note up indicating this is why adaptations could not be made. There was no shampoo or conditioner in the room. The hotel is definately not a 4 star! the evening meal was ok but my main meal was covered in a tarragon jus which spolied the dish, the wine however was nice. I found one member of staff very polite a gentleman with an American accent, he was very attentive and the best thing about this hotel. The breakfast unfortunately was poor swimming in grease. I did not find the hotel value for money and unfortunately will not be returning.
