Southport has come on a lot in recent years and now has loads to offer visitors even in the winter months. This hotel is ideally located to make the most of the town's attractions which have something for most ages. The food was excellent value for money in the Conservatory bar. The 2-4-1 cocktail offer from 9pm-11pm was a winner. The evening meal in the Pavilion restaurant wasn't haute cuisine but was acceptable and reasonably priced. Everywhere was clean and tidy and the main areas retained some splendour of a more elegant age. I loved the wide carpeted hallways (sad of me, I know, but many hotels have narrow, rabbit warren corridors). Our double bed room was comfy and warm. The bathroom facilities excellent. Staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful. Entertainment on the Saturday night we stayed in late January was a DJ and karaoke in the Conservatory bar which is open to the public. There was a party night in one of the main function rooms, but the hotel is big enough to absorb plenty of partying. The hotel's AA 3 star rating is probably about right. But this doesn't reflect features that are definitely worth viewing and enjoying.
