“Perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

We also stayed for Ironman Wales. Completely agree with Cathy. Menna and Peter went way beyond any expectations of a great stay. Not only did they accommodate the needs of the triathletes but came back to make sure we supporters also got breakfast which again was not the usual time. They also came out to watch the race and knew how all their guests were doing late into the day. Even guests' young children were given treats. Everyone was special. Breakfast outstanding, rooms spotless, location perfect. Not sure about doing the ironman again but definitely be on our route planner for the next motorbike trip.

“Probably the nicest guesthouse in Tenby!”

I stayed at Glenthorne B&B while doing Ironman Wales. Glenthorne website promised a warm Welsh welcome, and that really was exactly what greeted me when I arrived in Tenby, The owners, Menna and Peter were remarkably helpful and pleasant, I really enjoyed my weekend there. They even made a special early breakfast (5am!) on race morning, stored our bikes in their garage and dried our wetsuits. The room was spotless, and the bedroom so comfortable and quiet. Location is perfect - close to beach and town.
Finally, the breakfasts........outstanding! I have never had better. In fact I have never stayed at a better B&B! I definitely recommend this guesthouse!

Lovely warm welcome, room was impeccably clean, could smell how fresh the sheets were. Highly recommended, especially for children as the owners made a great effort with her. Breakfast was also very nice, possibly one of the best I've had!

This was my first holiday away on my own with just me and 3 year old. I usually go as a group and was a bit nervous! But I couldn't have asked for better with this guest house. The owners were marvelous and couldn't do enough to help.

I found the guest house easily and was greeted and shown into the car park opposite which was secure with a very small charge compared to other b&b's I looked at. I was helped up to the room with my bags and was offered help and advice about where to go for food/ beaches/ shops etc. I was given a small map and off we went to look around.

The location suited me perfectly. It was a 5 minute walk to a lovely beach - I think it was North Beach. It is quieter, a bit smaller and prettier than South Beach. Less commercial and more relaxing although it still has little beach shops on the front selling food/ buckets and spade etc. I felt safe wandering off with my little one to the water without worrying about leaving my things on the beach as everyone there was really friendly and were happy to keep an eye on my beach things. It is a lovely short walk to the town across the beach front to the harbour and town and there was a short cut to south beach from the guesthouse which took me less than 10 minutes strolling slowly. It is also not far from the train station. I walked everywhere and didn't need the car whilst I was here. There are also shops and places to eat around the corner.

The best thing was the breakfast. A large selection of cereals (even gluten free option), fresh whole fruit, fresh chopped fruit salad, yogurt, juices and a lovely fried breakfast (the bacon was from the local butchers!). My 3 year old is a fussy eater and he asked for breakfast from the b&b lunch time and for supper! I had to explain he would have to wait until morning. His side of the table was always laid out with a childs cutlery/ cup and a booster pillow which was very thoughtful.

The whole atmosphere was lovely and the other guests really friendly and chatty - couples, another family with young children and a lady traveling alone. All had come back here for the second time or the guesthouse had been recommended to them.

The guesthouse was quiet in the evening (we had one of the back rooms) and both me and my son slept through every night even with the window open (he normally wakes up at least 3 times!). And the whole place smelled of fresh laundry - very clean. The rooms were bright and airy.

I had read a previous bad review and it almost put me off. Im so glad i didn't listen and booked this place. I am not sure the review was about this place at all !! I will definitely be booking this place next year and will look forward to it.

“Excellent value and service with a personal touch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2011

Situated in Deer Park, just to the rear of the walled town, this bed and breakfast provides an excellent base for a visit to Tenby. Peter and Menna provide a service with a real personal touch and take the time to talk to everyone and help out where they can.

The room was very clean overlooking the garden at the rear of the property. The breakfast was excellent with a good selection of cereals fruit and a full cokked breakfast. We found the catering to also be of a very good standard and flexible enough to accomodate any requests for variations.

We have stayed in Tenby many times before this visit but this B&B was great. We cannot wait to visit again and am sure we will return to the Glenthorne later in the year.

Room Tip: Give Menna and Peter a ring
