Booked 4 night mid week stay. Cannot fault hotel position or view from room of the sea and beautiful beach below. Had upgraded to a premier room which was large and warm with a modern four poster and sofa facing the sea view. Shame the carpet was dirty and the bathroom just average and chilly. The bedcover was stained but quickly changed when I asked but the toilet was not clean-I asked for this to be done but it didn't happen. Lot of dust behind the bed and grubby paintwork. Bit weird the view of the large tv was obscured by the bed post! Mattress could have been comfier too. Worst thing was the restaraunt experience-absolutely freezing and all meals were served at a frantic pace, maybe to counteract the cold or stop the guests turning blue! 3 course meal completed in 50 minutes, and that was with me asking the staff to give us a break between courses! Another weird experience was asking for wine at the table but being told to collect it ourselves from the upstairs bar-maybe saving on staff as the receptionist seemed to double as bar lady!! (The bar adjoining thr restaraunt remained firmly shut). The food was average at best, although the puddings were nice and filling and warming! One reviewer mentions the toast, so thin it was almost transparant!! We requested afternoon tea one day as the menu says "selection of cakes". We were offered a slice of prepacked fruitcake, prepacked biscuits or crisps!!!!!!!!!! Never had crisps for afternoon tea before! In fairness however the receptionist/waitress/barlady did manage to find some teacakes as a peace offering! I am a great believer in "you get what you pay for" and at about £60 pppn DBB you won't get 5 star luxury, but you should get a clean room and be able to eat in a warm environment. Would we go again or recommend to friends? The answer is yes, but only to an upgraded sea facing room and to enjoy the hotels superb position.
