Stayed one night on 4/2/11 group of 10 women. Fabulous welcome from Jan on our arrival with welcome cup of tea/coffee. Lovely clean rooms, wonderful cooked breakfast & all at a great price. Hotel is within 1 minute walk of the centre Tenby and yards away from the sea & some rooms have sea views. Jan advised of the best places to eat and drink in the area. Here's a few comments from the girls..."Warm, friendly & nothing too much trouble", "Just fab", "Couldn't wish for anything better", "Sorry to leave but will be back", "Friendly, homely & spotless", "Couldn't fault it". I'll certainly be returning and would recommed to all.

“Tenbys number one for a reason”

Jan was very welcoming and made sure we were parked legally around the corner. The room was clean and warm. The breakfast was superb. Great value for money £65 all in for a king size room for two. Quiet at night in the best possible central location within the walls and near the pub. Ask Jan for directions to the locals pub for great value food and spot the lifeboat crew having a pint. The longer you stay the cheaper it gets so next time we are staying longer than the one night. Stop looking you have found it.

“We'd definitely return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We stayed in Myrtle House in April 2011. In a nutshell it was good value for money, quiet, friendly, central, with great breakfasts and wonderful hosts. In more detail:
Although it is in the heart of the Old Town’s tangle of tiny winding streets it’s not hard to find as it’s in a turning right by one of the largest churches in Wales, the spire of which is a useful landmark.
The location was ideal for us, as we do not like noisy neighbourhoods but we do like to be within easy walking distance of a variety of restaurants and pubs that serve good food. (Our favourite was “The 5 Arches Tavern”, where the staff were very pleasant, the food was delicious home cooking and the portions were very generous.)
A small problem was the parking, but it is easy to load/ unload luggage or less active guests right outside the door before moving on to a huge parking lot about 3-400 yards away. The walk to this is just a pleasant stroll along the prom and only seems a long way the first time...a bit of a shock to townies who are used to parking on their own drive! There are, in theory, plenty of road-side parking places, but finding a vacant one would take longer than the walk back from the big car-park. You do have to pay for the parking, but it’s a reasonable tariff: £18 for a week, 24/7. (in 2011)
The hotel itself is delightful, with a small number of guests and with each room being a comfortable size, en suite, with tea & coffee making facilities. We had an oblique view of the sea, (room 7), the promenade being approximately 30 yards away, at right angles to our road. There was the occasional clip clop of hooves as a horse-drawn buggy took tourists past, but little other passing traffic. We had plenty of cupboard and drawer space. The twin beds were a bit narrow for our rotund shapes, but would be fine for most guests.
Our hosts were charming. We didn’t see much of Rob, but he did most of the cooking at breakfast time and made a great job of it! The breakfasts were superb and big enough for us not to need lunch as well. Jan served the food and made sure that everyone had plenty of everything, and that they had answers to any queries about where to go or what to see whilst in Tenby and the surrounding area... and there are loads of natural and historical sights within an easy day’s touring.... she was really friendly and helpful without being overwhelmingly so.
We found it good value for money...we’d paid £30 per person per night in April 2011... and found Tenby and its surrounding area a beautiful and interesting place for a holiday.

Room Tip: If you ask Jan at time of booking, she'll let you know the pros and cons of each room

Arrived lunchtime New Years Eve and had best welcome ever. Felt like Jan was as old friend. Couldnt do enough for us. Great location and homely atmosphere. The room was small but cosy and spotlessly clean.Excellent breakfast and nothing was too much bother for them. Gave us great advice on where to go and also arranged taxi for us. One of the best 2 days iv had away on a new year and I will definatley be going back again. Thank you both Ann,Julie and Theresa (Neath)

“The Biggest Welcome in Tenby”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

Stayed at The Myrtle House Hotel for one night in mid November, with wife and 5 other couples. The room was very good value with prices differing depending on the time of year and how many nights you book.

Jan, the landlady, made us very welcome with tea's and coffee's after we had taken our bags to the rooms. There is no parking at the hotel, it is on a narrow street just off the front. However this is no hardship, after dropping the bags off the cars were taken to the Sainsburies multi story £2 for 24 hours.

The room was small and compact but very comfortable and warm. We had a double facing the rear of the hotel, no sea view but it was very quiet. The bed was soft with a very fluffy duvet. A good size wardrobe with plenty of hangers and a dressing table. There was a small tv and good tea and coffee facilities. The toilet/shower room was small but functional and very clean with fluffy white hand and bath towels. All areas of the room were spotlessly clean and we would have been happy to spend a week or longer. Just a minutes walk to the sea front/beach/town centre.

The breakfast was excellent. Several choices on the menu including a full english. Cereals, fruit and fruit juice was also available. The breakfast was well served and presented and Jan made sure you had everything you wanted ie. extra toast, tea/coffe etc. A morning newspaper was available to read.

For the information of those who like their alcoholic beverages, there is no bar at the Myrtle House. However, you only have to walk a few yards to find any number of local pubs, cafe's and restaraunts with any sort of cuisine available. We had a christmas dinner which was pre booked by Jan for us at the Plantaganet which was excellent quality and value.

Tenby itself is a wounderful little fishing town. It is typical of other West Wales holiday resorts but is probably the biggest and best. It is very central for all the best beaches in the area and other attractions like Oakwood Park. It has a reputation for Stag and Hen parties but we saw none of this while we were there. The beach is fantastic, even in winter. I have many happy memories from my own childhood and also with my own children, of visits to Tenby during the summer months. This was my first visit out of season. We were all so impressed with the Myrtle House Hotel, we have booked for next year with an additional night, which make the room even better value.

I can recommend anybody to visit West Wales, you won't be dissapointed. However, if it's Tenby then it has to be The Myrtle House Hotel.

Thanks Jan, for the welcome and all the hard work. See you next time.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have a sea view. Rooms at the back are very quiet.
