“Beautiful site, good access to attractions but not great for kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

As a last minute booking we were pleased to be able to get a pitch at Mill Park. Easy to get to and set in a beautiful village nestled between Combe Martin and Ilfracombe. Being in a motor home we needed public transport which was easily accessed at the end of the road (if somewhat sporadic with the timings!!).
We found thaestaff poliite and helpful and the site was clean with all the usual washing facilities etc available 24 hours a day. We went with our 2 children aged 10 and 1. Our 10 year old was quite bored. There is a small play area (2 swings, slide and mini zip wire) and that was it. The lane was too narrow to let him play on his bike there. If it wasn't for the presence of a few other kids, it would have been a nightmare for him. There is a games room however it is small and cramped and the games are very outdated. Our 1 year old loved the open space and baby swing but be on your guard.. there is a great fishing pool but no fencing around it. Drinks were extremely well priced as was the takeaway (only open Thurs to Sun). Sadly, the carp in the fishing pool had gone on annual leave but I have it on good authority that the bream and roach were very obliging! For walkers please note that the road into Berrynarbour village is VERY steep and the is no pavement for much of the walk to Combe Martin. On the plus side, it is less than a mile from Watermouth Castle - a great day out. Overall, a lovely site, very peaceful, very beautiful and very good value for money but I would suggest a couples site rather than family unless you have transport and are planning to be off site most days.

“mill park stayed once never again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

August 2011 stay 6 nights
Arrived on Sunday ,my wife was told at reception that due to staffing problems the Restaurant ,pub and take away was only open on Thursday to Sundays ,but remember we arrived sunday and all facilities were closed ,there is another review back in 2007 stating the same ,so obviously it was cost cutting ,not a staffing issue.
If you pay for the facilities it should be provided it is stated in their brochure take away at managements discretion, nothing about the pub and restaruant ,
Nothing mentioned at time of booking that facilities are limited (not happy). we were showed on a map were our pitch was ,already muddy by the recent rain ,oh well joys of caravaning,MANY THANKS TO THE THREE GUYS THAT HELPED PUSH OUR CARAVAN ONTO OUR PITCH.
after getting our van in situ and half our awning up the heavens opened up ,we do take our little shih tzus with us who had been in the car for over three hours ,they did get exited especially when campers (tent) had a raging bbq burning (I am sure they put parfin on it)and smelling out the site.AND THIS STARTED OUR DOGS BARKING.
My wife and friend were a little bit dismayed the next day at reception, when they were told that someone had complained about the dogs being yappy ,Lets face it they are dogs.
They did not make any noise the rest of the week ,we endured smelly bbqs ,babys crying
and children screaming,
The main toilet block was adequate and clean ,we did find the new shower block next to the old boat house which were better until friday when all the waste was coming back up through the sinks .
The shop is very very basic. never did find the off licence or camping supplies ?
NO LIGHTS at all on the site.
The old boat house was delapidated with warning signs keep out ,try telling kids to keep out ,why not either repair or remove.
Will i go back no ,we will go back to Watermouth cove site right on the harbour which i give 9/10
If i am not correct any business must not promote and reflect in the price facilities eg takeaway, pub, restaraunt especially in the height of the season ,which are there for your enjoyment then not being provided.,even the flies werent happy as they were all dead in the pub / restaraunt window.
Its a shame as when the takeaway was open the food was good.
By the way absolutely no mobile signal in the valley ,you have to go up to tescos at the top of ilfracombe.

We stayed at Mill Park with our two daughters for nine nights over the Easter break. On arrival we were met by a friendly gentleman called Doug who welcomed us and told us where to set up; we were by the lake which was lovely. The shop was well stocked with bits and bobs and even had the morning papers, all the staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. On more than one occasion we sampled the full English breakfast sitting on the patio in the sunshine and the on-site take away food is top class also. The bar is well stocked and the atmosphere was great; nearly as good as the draught Guinness which was sampled on more than one occasion. The girls loved the park and the games room and they tried their hand at fishing; which they both enjoyed. The sites locailty is superb for some lovely walks which are not too hard on the legs. Mill Park is a gem of a site and we shall be going back without any doubt, well done to all concerned.

“Picturesque with streams and waterfall + lovely fishing lake”

Totally ignore the comments about rude owners, absolutely rubbish!! The owner plus the staff could not be more helpful. The site is very well kept and clean with a good playground for the kids and dog walking area. For those wanting to do a bit of fishing, lovely lake too. On site pub and food, The site is located in an ideal location for lots of lovely walks or drives. Just go and have a lovely time whether wind, rain or shine!!
