“Well run, well laid out, clean, tidy & peaceful campsite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

Stayed here for 6 nights after we reviewed most if not all the campsites across this area !
We had electric hook up and opted for a 12m pitch for extra room. Although the weather was very mixed during our stay (we had about 2.1/2 days of sun) it did not spoil our enjoyment of North Devon, re-visiting after a gap of 8 years. Site is set in a valley, all pitches from what we saw were well laid out. Toilets, shower block, cleaning facilities are housed in a modern, clean block (cleaned 3 times a day). Showers were hot & free. Owners are attentative but not at all intrusive. Owner told us that she had grown up on site since a young girl and her personal pride in the site shows. All the staff were friendly and had time for a chat. Soft street lamps through site which was a nice touch.
Small play area for younger children with zip wire. No club (which wasn't a problem to us at all), a small shop in reception, laundry facilities. A peaceful and well laid out site. Lovely base to explore Croyde, Woolacombe, Puttsborough sands, Lynton & Lynmouth etc. Great pub/rest near to site (few mins walk from entrance on way down to Hele Bay - Hele Billy's (see my seperate review of this nice little eatery ! Not to be missed. Site was a mix of tents, motor homes, static caravans and really nice lodges. If you're looking for a nice holiday park which is peaceful and has clean facilities then you will not go wrong with this site. It's a credit to the owners who obviously work hard to keep it this way. Oh by the way it's not a regimental 'don't do this / that' type of site, like some. It's just nice and laid back. You can have your BBQ's as long as you make use of the little slabs they encourage you to use save spoiling the grass. A nice stay and found it pleasant to return to each afternoon night after we'd toured. Oh and there is a large Tesco about 5 mins drive from the site which was useful, popped there a couple of times.

Room Tip: Ask for the community pitch if there are 2-3 tents in your party, it's a lovely pitch of your ow...

“owner really rude”

we stayed here for for 7 nights in one of the 'luxury lodges' . the accomodation itself was adequate although way too expensive for what is basically a large static caravan. there was nothing for the kids to do, the shop did not stock bread and did not open until 9am which is far too late. when I complained about the heating the owner was really really rude and unhelpful and seemed to spend most of her time arguing with the customers so it left a bad taste in our mouth.

We welcome all comments and feedback about the service we provide and the standards of our accommodation. On arrival and in our literature we encourage all our guests to report any problems and anything they are not happy with to the reception during their stay. This allows us the opportunity during our guests stay to put right anything unsatisfactory . We believe all staff and management offer a friendly smile and are always happy to help.. 24 hours a day.

Our LUXURY lodges are very different to our caravans as they offer twice the size and additional facilities which caravans do not offer like: dishwashers, ensuite shower rooms, TV and DVD in the main bedroom, a full size bath, large fridge and freezer, full size dining room suite, leather lounge suite, extra frills and enough wardrobe space to please the ladies.

On site we offer a large childrens play area for under 14's with a zip wire / flying fox, cage swing, rope swings, balancing beams, hat and poles, monkey ropes and wobble boards. For the under 5's we have a cute 'Gretel' playhouse, a sandpit, baby swings and a car. Parents and children love our play area as it is safely fenced off from all sides. Some children come here regularly and make life long friends with others children on holiday. Our nature trail is also loved by parents and children as it offers a peaceful stroll amongst butterflies and bees, champions and oak trees, fox dens and badger trails. An educational map gives the opportunity to learn how mother nature exists within our beautiful valley.

Our reception offers some essential supplies at competitive prices like bread, milk, tea, coffee, ice-cream, jam, plasters, paracetamol, cereal, cold drinks, gravy mix, sauces, etc. We do not offer a wide variety as there is a mini-mart 5 minutes walk away and a large TESCO store 4 minute drive away, both open from 7am until 10pm.

We offer these reviewers our thoughts if they found our accommodation and service not to be at their standard but we dispute the fact that we argue with customers... we go above and beyond our duty to please and don't find our happy guests have anything to 'argue' about.

Please visit us at Hele Valley to see what good service you will be offered or please read the other reviews on tripadviser.

“Quiet well-run campsite close to the coast”

Peaceful campsite with very clean shower block and potwash area, well maintained grounds and little playpark. Fruit and veg from the onsite allotment, and small shop at reception. I liked the layout of the site - the tent pitches were off to one side of the main access which meant less cars going past the tent. I'd happily come here again.

“Excellent little campsite!”

We stayed at Hele Valley on one of their "Extra Large" Tent pitches which was perfect. The pitch was flat and dry, and being a small site even though we were right at the end we weren't far from the shower block. The shower faciltiies were immaculate, plenty of hot water and very clean. The reception staff were really friendly and helpful. The overall site is extremely clean and well maintained with all the grass kept short and attractive planting. Would definitely stay here again!
