We stayed at Westwood house over the August bank holiday weekend after luckily securing a late booking.
Westwood is a beautiful (huge!) converted Victorian house, and its original character remains following a warm and very charming upgrade. Helen, the owner, has decorated the house to a high standard and the thoughtful personal touches she has added to each room give a sense of luxury, but with the same homely feel of a bed and breakfast.
We enjoyed a lovely cooked breakfast each morning, which was relaxed and we were able to enjoy at our own pace. In addition Helen was a great host providing us with information on where to visit in Ilfracombe and recommending places to eat and drink.
The highlight of our trip was our walk along the coastal path from Ilfracombe to Morthoe. Helen kindly allowed us to borrow her two beautiful Labradors, Oz and Charlie, for the afternoon. Not sure who was more tired and delighted to be home afterwards but two better companions you would not find!
From greeting us on arrival with a lovely cup of tea and biscuits, to our departure, Helen couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and at home...we had a really great stay here and recommend to anyone who is looking for something a bit different in Ilfracombe.
