“A bit sad!”

We found this hotel to be in need of a refurb and then some pictures on the walls of the very high ceilinged room. We booked a suite for a special occasion and were a bit dissapointed. The bathroom was the best bit, but you were forbidden from using the hand spray as a shower incase you got the floor wet. On the other hand the enormous bath was definitely big enough for two! Malcolm was helpful, and breakfast was good. It just was not somewhere I would go to again - especially for the price we paid.

Room Tip: Don't pick the suite!

“great hotel, cant wait to come back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

great hotel in the centre of town.. 5 min walk to the seafront or high street, we had a lovelly room, which had obviously recently been decorated to a very high standard, flat screen tv which was wall mounted, the whole room was light and airy,
The hotel was spotless and the bar well stocked, breakfast was great and big.! staff were all very friendly and have to say a big shout out to Dan his local knowledge was outstanding, and was only too happy to help us out with places to go and the history of different things in the town.
the bar and lounge area in minimal in decorating style, but is still very nice, cant wait to come back next year and see all the improvements guys.. keep up the good work.

Room Tip: 103 or 202 i think if u want a shower, but steam showers are free to use in the gym

Stayed for a wedding in the town. Rooms small. TV didn't receive channels properly - new digital switch over to blame apparently, but they maybe could put an new aerial in? Friendly enough and rooms clean.

Room Tip: Go for the suite

“Another relaxing and most enjoyable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

The Bath House Hotel provides excellent accommodation at a very reasonable rate. We have just had our fifth family stay there and we all love it! The same team that have looked after us for 5 years do their utmost to ensure your stay is the most welcoming you could ask for. The rooms are spacious, spotless and extremely comfortable. The hotel bar is well stocked and very reasonably priced. The Bath House Hotel is conveniently located in the quietier end of the town ensures a good nights sleep, ready to rise and enjoy the hearty full English breakfast which really is very good.

Room Tip: The family room which sleeps 5. It has one room with 3 single beds and a separate adjoining double...

“Really enjoyed our stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

My fiancé and I stayed here and we found it a very pleasant experience. Our room was very clean and nice looking and the bathroom is gorgeous. Breakfast was perfect and filled us up so much that we didn't get hungry until dinner which saved us a lot of money on lunch!!
There is a sauna, gym and steam showers that are free to use which is good for such a cheap hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful and always went out of there way to help us.
There were a few bad things unfortunately. The window in our room was very dirty on the outside, salt from the sea air, a large amount of bird poo plus a smiley face which we can't actually figure out how it got there because it's out of arms reach! Builders perhaps?
We also had to lodge a towel in the sauna door to keep the heat in because of a massive gap at the top.
Bed wasn't too bad but still wasn't exactly comfy- however I can see from other comments that they are replacing the matresses so that'd good!

Overall we had a great holiday and enjoyed being so close to town and sea yet not in the middle of all the hustle and bustle! If we return to ilfracombe we would be happy to use the Bath House Hotel again. Thank you Malcolm and the team for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Room 103 (?) has a shower if you don't prefer baths. Some rooms have balconies and jacuzzi baths...

Many thanks for your kind comments.

Yes, we are replacing all mattresses which should all be done by the end of October.

There is also a major investment planned over the winter months which I hope you will come and see next year.

I don't know how the smiley face got there either, nor how to get rid of it lol.

Best regards

Malcolm
