“God damn awful!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

The car park is across the road of a very busy road - not easy trying to cross so beware if you have maobility problems or small children.
The room was ok - nothing special. But the worse thing ever was the food. Disgusting! We had travelled all day & were so grateful that we had arrived - only to be met with vile 'homemade' food. We hoped that the fish & chip shop in the garden (actually the car park) would be open but sadly it looked like it had been closed for years. Never mind - lets eat in the pub & try the homemade food. Homemade as in take from the freezer & cook! The vegetable soup - well words cannot describe it adequately! Brown watery liquid - could have been dishwater? Or worse? We went out after that & found somewhere else to eat. Please do not waste your time or money in this hole!

You must remember this is a 300 year old coaching house,if you want modern luxary move on.we stayed for 3 nights and found it very friendly the rooms were not large but what do you need to sleep in they were clean and enough storage,The car park was on the other side of the road but we knew this before we arrived and because it was on a long bend you had a good view of what was coming.you did have traffic noise up till about midnight and again from 6 am.The Breakfast was very good we did not eat in at night but by the number that did it must have been the same T V recepition not 100%this is due to the area All in all good value for this area at this time of year.

“Disgusting room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

My husband and I had the misfortune to stay at the Foxhunter Inn. Foolishly I had not carried out any checks on the Foxhunter Inn before booking it. We had booked for two nights – one was bad enough. As we arrived late we did not feel that it was prudent to start looking for other accommodation at that time of the day.
Our room was disgusting – it was small and the furniture old, stained and grubby. The carpet had not been vacuumed and the last time that the room had been thoroughly cleaned was a very long time ago. There were cobwebs to be seen hanging from the ceiling!
I did check the bed linen and it was clean, as were the towels - however the valance was in dire need of a good wash.
The bathroom was a disgrace; the front of the basin was coved in a substance that did not look at all good and we cleaned it off ourselves. The inside of the shower curtain was stained and dirty and I lifted the bath mat up – it was stuck to the bath with a brown mucky substance – I would say that it had been growing there for a few months.
The owner and his wife served and cooked breakfast and it was very good. Before we left I spoke to the owner and told him that I thought that our hotel room was a disgrace – he seemed totally surprised and assured us that he would attend to things immediately……. I wonder?

“IT DOES NOT EVEN RATE 1 STAR”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

On arrival we found the car park on the opposite side of a fast stretch of the A361 road making it difficult for my disabled wife to cross. We then had to pay the total amount before being given the key. The access stairs were dark and steep, not what we were told. The room was very small, dingy and smelly, too small for even a chair to sit on. The bed was very hard with shabby bedding, how ever the towels were nice and white and clean. Breakfast - The coffee was undrinkable and we did not get any choice of food.

“horrible, uncomfortable, rip-off”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2010

Like other guests that have reviewed I was asked to pay before even seeing the room. The bed was of extremely poor quality, I could feel all the springs of the matress and the pillows were solid lumps. I was sharing a twin room with my 12 year old son and he is a fab sleeper but he woke up upset that the bed was so uncomfortable. I tryed to pad out the matress for him using the blankets in the wardrobe, yuck, dirty. The en-suite smelled strongly of sewage which appeared to be coming from the bath plughole and there was a shower curtain that was far too long and laid on the bath floor, scanky or what?? it was slimy and disgusting. £54 for bed only, an absolute rip-off.
