“EXCCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

Booked a 3 night break for my husband & myself. Chose the Foxhunters Inn due it's accessability to nearby attractions. On arrival we were greeted by Mike, the owner, who checked us in immediately and took us to our room. We stayed in room 1 which was a 4 poster with views out onto the front & main road. ~Don't be put off by reviews regarding the road. Not half as bad as some reviews make out & the secondary glalzing in the room meant we had no problem with road noise. TV in the room a little on the small size but this is just a comment, not a criticism. The room was clean and the bed very comfy. I requested an extra pillow and within 5 minutes one was brought up to our room.
We paid extra for breakfast. Fruit juice & cereal and a full english which was beautifully cooked and good quality ingredients. We only ate in one night - food was hot and nicely presented but perhaps a little overpriced for what you had but could not complain about the quality.
The owners Mike & Pauline are such a lovely couple who really did their best to make our stay welcoming. The staff at the Foxhunters were all very friendly and we could not fault the service. Excellent choice of drinks and bar open from midday till late. Another good point that the bus stops are almost outside the Inn so if you fancy a night out & don't want to drive you can just hop oin the bus.
Overall I'd rate The Foxhunters Inn as excellent value for money. If you want 4 star accommodation then you have to pay 4 star prices. We would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front are nicer but you need to consider the main road. If you prefer total quiet then...

“disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

We stayed here for two nights and now wish we had chosen somewhere else, it was on a dangerous bend of a fast road and the car park was opposite which made it hard to get bags across. Anyone with mobility problems don't risk it. The welcome was difficult, like they wished we had chosen somewhere else too, but worse was to come when we saw the "Family" room it was so small and had bunk beds which is different from the advertised picture, and our double bed was almost unsleepable it was so uncomfortable. However was in a decent location for getting around and the one plus was the breakfast which was very good, apart from that keep searching if you wish to stay in the area

“God damn awful!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

The car park is across the road of a very busy road - not easy trying to cross so beware if you have maobility problems or small children.
The room was ok - nothing special. But the worse thing ever was the food. Disgusting! We had travelled all day & were so grateful that we had arrived - only to be met with vile 'homemade' food. We hoped that the fish & chip shop in the garden (actually the car park) would be open but sadly it looked like it had been closed for years. Never mind - lets eat in the pub & try the homemade food. Homemade as in take from the freezer & cook! The vegetable soup - well words cannot describe it adequately! Brown watery liquid - could have been dishwater? Or worse? We went out after that & found somewhere else to eat. Please do not waste your time or money in this hole!

“FOR £54 GOOD VALUE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2010

You must remember this is a 300 year old coaching house,if you want modern luxary move on.we stayed for 3 nights and found it very friendly the rooms were not large but what do you need to sleep in they were clean and enough storage,The car park was on the other side of the road but we knew this before we arrived and because it was on a long bend you had a good view of what was coming.you did have traffic noise up till about midnight and again from 6 am.The Breakfast was very good we did not eat in at night but by the number that did it must have been the same T V recepition not 100%this is due to the area All in all good value for this area at this time of year.
