“Great get-away...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Just had a wonderful, much needed weekend break at the Elmfield and thoroughly recommend it! We stayed in the four poster room which had great views over Ilfracombe, a very large comfortable bed and plenty of space. Very good full English veggie breakfast with yummy veggie sausages, cooked by our excellent friendly and helpful hosts. Great walking trails start literally outside the hotel and high-end restaurants just minutes walk away. Perfect weekend of rejuvenation for this frazzled London-based couple, and only 4 and a half hours drive from West London meant perfectly do-able for a weekend break.

“Fantastic family break - great experience ! ! !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We stayed in the lovely hotel over the New Years Eve 2011 / 2012. Our room was lovely and spacious and very clean. All rooms are beautifully furnished and kept very clean. Our room had an amazing king size bed, big flat screen tv with dvd player and on-suite bathroom. The house itself is pretty magical and amazing. There is plenty to do even in bad weather; the Elmfield has lovely toy / playroom which our 2 year old daughter loved, there is also a lovely bar area (with access to wi-fi), dinning room (with fridge where you can store all you baby food and this is accessible non stop). There is also lovely pool (with sauna) which our daughter enjoyed the most. All staff at Elmfield are really lovely and very friendly. Zoe and Matt (owners) made our stay extra special and made us feel very welcome. Once again thank you so much for such a lovely end to 2011!!!! PS: Breakfast at Elmfield is out of this world!!! Yummy!!!

“A wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I stayed here with a friend last summer. From start to finish we felt welcomed and very comfortable. The owners helped us at each and every step when we needed it, recommended restaurants, days out and walks around the area all of which were superb. They made the week for us, a great hotel in a great area. Loved the swimming pool too. Can't recommend it highly enough.

“A wonderful family break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

We stayed with our two small children at the Elmfield over New Year 2012. Despite the miserable weather that would have made any family holiday torture, we all had a wonderful time. Mostly helped by the warm welcome of Zoe & Matt who are great hosts. The house itself has a great charm to it, the rooms are cosy, lovely furnished and well kept. There is a great play room for the kids with a huge choice of toys for any age. Adjacent to it is a comfortable lounge for adults to relax around a cosy fire. If the toy room runs out of novelty value, there is always the heated pool to visit or a movie to watch. Endless kids entertainment. Don't miss to visit the 'Playhut' by the Tunnel Beaches if your kids need to burn off further energy (during rainy days). Matt & Zoe have a great list of local eateries which are all worth a visit. Most notably the Gendarmerie for a romantic candle light gourmet treat (Zoe has a lovely baby sitter on hand) or the Rock Inn for great quality gastro pub food in a kids friendly environment. Loved our stay! Big thanks to Zoe & Matt. PS: Zoe cooks up a mean breakfast that's worth alone a trip back.
