A meal to die for thats what my wife and had at the Auld Alliance.Lydie,owner and chef..is simply wonderfull..If you love great food in a great setting(Just Go) and love every moment..

basic accommodation, but nicely done,could do with some biscuits and more shampoo/soap, very hospitableand friendly host, nice sitting room with comfy chairs and log fire, and a snug ! breakfast was best we've ever had, not traditional just different, tasted very fresh, would certainly recommend, and would stay again, didn't try the evening meal as you had to order that morning, but after the breakfast would sample in future

We have returned from a lovely weekend in Kingussie, where we stayed in the Auld Alliance for 2 nights. The stay exceeded our expectations and was very good value for money.
The room was very clean, modern yet traditional and captured the highland atmosphere.
Lydie, the owner, was welcoming and extremely kind. She was very obliging and has an excellent local knowledge of Kingussie and the surrounding area with regard to trips and places to visit.
The breakfast was outstanding, mixing french cooking with traditional Scottish produce. As a vegetarian, I was not disappointed and my needs and fussy eating habits didnt appear to be a problem. Everything was homemade, and freshly prepared.
This hotel caters for all age groups, we are in our 20s and usually enjoy a busier, city lifestyle but this break was a perfect atmosphere and just what we were looking for. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants in Kingussie, so we didnt even feel the need to venture into Aviemore.
Anyone who find fault with this hotel must consider having their head examined!
Our only regret was not having dinner in the hotel after sampling the fine cooking at breakfast time.
We liked it so much, we plan to return in December when the snow arrives!

The Auld Alliance is not only a great base from which one can explore the Cairngorm area, it offers the best food of any guest house we have ever encountered. Lydie, who runs the guest house provides French cuisine of the highest quality. Breakfast each morning is a beautifully presented mix of fresh local produce and homemade breads/croissants. We opted to stay in for dinner and were not disappointed. Each one of the four courses was an absolute delight. A great 'alliance' between French culinary skills and fresh Scottish produce.
The room was very clean, comfortable, spacious and well appointed with beautiful views of the Spey valley. The house is tastefully restored with many interesting artifacts and paintings. After a day of walking in Cairngorm National Park, what better than to return to a roaring log fire in Lydie's lounge, followed by a such excellent cuisine.
