“Christmas break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Room clean & comfortable. Staff friendly and willing to help. Food was good, plentiful but unimaginative. Problem for disabled in that hotel is on different levels so even after using the lift in some instances it is necessary still to negotiate small flights of steps. Being with a coach party we were "regimented" as to meal times and seating, having to share 10 cover tables. Entertainment up to standard for this type of holiday and something was on every night.

Room Tip: Request easy disabled access.

“Burns nite weekend”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I was the only scot amongst a group of English friends from the Merseyside area going for a themed weekend (20th-22nd Jan. Burns Night) staff at front were friendly, hotel was nice, however i was upset at having to pay a supplement for a single room, the room was small with a single bed, why did i pay more for what was obviously a single room? On the first night there was no hot water, apparantly a new water system had been installed, it was ok the following night, but almost scalded my hand by hot water running down the shower hose and on to my hand whilst trying to adjust the heat.Breakfast was listed as "Scottish" i have never had haggis with my breakfast in over 40years, but what was missing was "tattie scones" and "Lorne sausage" (square sliced). On the burns night the entertainment consisted of a chap playing some scottish reels but then digressing into american deep south, country and western and Irish music, most of my group complained that they wanted to hear traditional scottish fare, not music from other countries.there was also a number of complaints from others in our group concerning noise and allocation of twin rooms when doubles had been booked. On a positive note, the meals were good and Oleg was on the ball. Would i go again?.Yes, but hopefully they stick to a Scottish night being Scottish, an Irish night ,Irish etc.

Dear v1leon50,

Many thanks for making us aware of your comments with regards to our Burns weekend.
I am pleased that you found our staff to be friendly and the hotel to be nice. With regards to a single room supplement for a single room, this is charged as you have opted for your own private room, it is the privacy and personal service that costs additional, single rooms are also limited in most hotel and not always available.
As part of our ongoing improvements we installed a new hot water system and this was causing some teething problems on your arrival which were rectified quickly.
Rooms are allocated based on information provided by your tour group.
I have noted your comments with regards to the entertainment and breakfast.
Once again, many thanks for your constructive comments.

Kind Regards,

Brian Robinson, Group Operations Manager

Spent the period 11th-13th January staying at the Angus Hotel in Blairgowrie. Not the first time of staying but the best. My wife and my sister over from Australia for a Family Bereavement had nothing but praise for the staff. Nothing was to much trouble, the food was of a high standard the rooms were very comfortable and warm.Grant in his many roles was outstanding in the service he provided for the three of us,as were the remainder of the limited staff that were working throughout the period of our occupation.Thank you.

“A theme night in a great hotel”

Just back from spending the weekend at the Angus Hotel in Blairgowrie, 13-15th Jan.
What a really nice hotel and staff.
Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff, especially Noel the assistant manager.
This was a theme weekend (Blues Brothers from Birmingham) and the act went down well.
The food was great, even for a veggie like me. Facilities on offer were swimming and a spa area which were well used. Very central but very quiet hotel with a choice of rooms, we took the upgrade.
Nothing to fault here, even the surrounding area is beautiful to see.

Room Tip: We had upgraded rooms 103 and 104, which are charged at an extra £25 per night, and although facing...
