What a lovely hotel this is, full of character, small, nice atmosphere, Nicola the manageress is very friendly, down 2 earth, a good sense of humour. The waitresses were also very nice. Loved the humour of no 'P' on the 'ool'.!! :-)) All nice & clean & comfy, food very good. the only downfall for us, a bit out of the way, pity it wasnt nearer the beach, but then nothings perfect.! wouldnt recommend this hotel for children though.! ( Its too nice.) !

“Awful place, avioid at all lengths !!!”

Posting this review on behalf of my parents who have recently stopped there and were telling me of their experiences, so I though I would write a review. Stopped at this hotel for a "Turkey & Tinsel" mini break. Never ever again. The first thing that hits you when you walk in is the smell of damp. The food was awful and disgusting. Food was very bland and either undercooked or overcooked. One of the sauces that came with the Salmon one night had dried herbs in that had little stems in which almost made my mom sick and stuck into her toungue ! The bedroom was very very dated. Everything in there seemed to be from the 70's/80's era ! The bed was awful and so small, the chair in the bedroom was broken, the remote control had no back to the battery compartment so the batteries kept falling out, the buttons on the remote were caked in dirt and bedsheets had holes in them. My mom and dad had great fun and spent many hours trying to decide if the carpet was pink or brown as it was so dirty ! The staff were friendly and helpful though.

Went to this hotel with Grand uk holidays ! never Again!First room that we were shown to smelt musty ,so were given the only other available which was a fire escape room, curtains falling down, tv out of the ark, decor dated and tired, the bathroom was dingy and the shower dribbled!beds uncomfortable. The hallways and lounge areas not cleaned the whole week, and were very dated. There was no tv in the Tv lounge!
the food was bland and boring, entertainment terrible and overall only a 1 star standard.
I have complained to Grand uk holidays before doing this review, but was not impressed with their reply so I have to warn others .

“Good value for money”

Just returned from a coach tour of this lovely island. All the staff we met at the Parkbury were so friendly and helpful. The staff work very hard - nothing was too much trouble for them. Everywhere was clean and the beds very comfortable. Grand UK Hotels and Just for Groups Holidays are trying to provide a good standard of accommodation and food at a very reasonable cost and they certainly did this. The quality and quantity of food might not satisfy everyone but it was all well cooked and nicely presented with a smile. As part of a package it represented good value for money.
The Parkbury is at the top of a longish street and some people might find the walk up from the front a bit strenuous. I don't think Sandown would be my first choice of resort for a return visit to the island, but then we went out of season and many seaside towns do not look their best then.
Thank you to all concerned for a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: We were in room 8 which was on the ground floor and very quiet, with a view of the pool.

“The Parkbury ,Our Ideal I o W holiday location”

We arrived at the Parkbury at 9:15pm on 29th August 2011, traffic and ferry delays prevented our Coach Party arriving earlier. The welcome from all the staff (management too) was so warm and freindly, our meals were served immediately and were of excellent quality.
Throughout our week long stay we found the accomadation ,food ,service at all levels to be of a very high standard. It was obvious that the whole team were happy to work together at all times to ensure the ,comfort of the residents. We would therefore highly reccommend this Hotel and would take this opportunity to say a big thank you the Parkbury for all they did to make our stay so memorable.
