“super stay”

if there was one small critisism. The exterior could do with a refresh. I noticed a lot of people, seemed to walk past & into adjoining premises for food etc. Cosmetics the obvious reason. Their loss i think, has me and my wife stayed for 4 days.Proprioters Chris / Sue. & the staff were all both freindly and polite. Although slightly dated the room was comfortable & spotless. The veiw from the balcolny was fantastic. Had one of the best steaks i,ve ever had in the resteraunt. All in all, a great break thank you. 4/5

Room Tip: Clean & ideally situated

“Great view, shame about the service”

Service was appalling in that there was very little in the way of consideration and courtesy. Attitude of owner and staff small minded and unfriendly. The hotel has rules and there is no flexibility - staff and owner would rather spend 30 minutes arguing and claiming they could not prepare a breakfast for your friend if they were not present with the cooker being turned off and no offer of even tea and toast. Claims that it was against the law to cook breakfast when person not present at the table were followed by apparent Health and Safety argument of likely salmonella poisoning . . . sad that all this really masked a miserable and miserly approach to hospitality governed by greed and penny pinching.

“Great views - great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2009

Location is perfect in centre of Sandown. Do opt for the rooms with a view, it is really worth it. Beware that balconies are not separated, but was no problem for us as we had four rooms next eachother. Hosts really did everything to make us feel comfortable, and service at both dinner and breakfast was excellent. Parking a slight problem, lots of places around but limited to two hours during the day, so you might have to pay in a car park. Bus right outside, but if going to Shanklin, the train is faster and less than half price.

“Friendly and welcoming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2009

We stayed in a double balcony room with fantastic seaviews. The food and service was good and chris and sue were extremely friendly. I would definately stay there again.

“lovely week-end away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2008

my husband and i decided to go to porthmouth for the day and decided to pop across to the i.o.w for the day, as we arrived in sandown and found the place very pretty we decided to look for an hotel for the night. we found the belvedere hotel and asked if they had any rooms? we were told yes one room on the top floor, we said we would take it, but the gentleman in charge told us to check the room first to see if we would be happy with it. When we looked at the room with an en-suite bathroom,it was clean and had a beautiful view of the sea and the beach.Anyway we ended up staying 2 nights as we liked it so much, we did try the restaurant there during our stay and the food was delicious.
we liked it so much we are going back mid august.

  • Liked — VERY FRIENDLY OWNERS AND FANTASTIC VIEWS
  • Disliked — THE SHOWER WAS A BIT ON THE SMALL SIDE BUT THE VIEW MADE UP FOR IT
