“Great value modern hotel”

I recently stayed at The Caprice on a stag do and had a great time.

Some of our party arrived earlier than previously agreed but we were welcomed by the manager and shown to our rooms. We were told the rooms had recently been renovated and they appeared freshly decorated and were very modern and clean.

There is a large trendy bar beneath the hotel where we spent some time and the staff were very friendly and the music was good.

There were no dramas when we checked out and we will certainly be returning

“had a great time”

we stayed at the caprice hotel this weekend and found the hotel very comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful,

I was part of a stag group consisting of about 25 of us, we had a great time, breakfast was very tasty, and the strippers entertaining,

We came to check out on sunday morning and had no problems, there was no damage and we got out deposit bond back as promised when we booked,

We are planning a trip back to whitley bay on a bank holiday weekend as we were told it gets very very busy and we had just missed out on the first one of the year.

  • Liked — Convenience for the pubs, right in the middle of the main drinking street
  • Disliked — overall experience above average

“avoid like the plague”

Where do i begin......

I have stopped in Whitley bay several times all in different establishments, the best was The New Royal....

I was on my cousins stag do and he had arranged the accomodation, we arrived on the friday and pulled up outside, the caprice has a bar underneath the premises which to say the least looked rougher than a bear's behind....

We met the hotel manager and booked into our rooms paying £35 each per night plus he asked each of us for a cash deposit of £30/person, for any possible damages. there was 16 of us in total so thats £480 and we had 7 rooms between us.

The rooms where simple a bed each and a toilet of your own if you where lucky, The rooms weren't to the highest standard but we didn't care we wanted to get changed and enjoy our night out and after all it was just somewhere to sleep.

I didn't have a problem with anything else the bar was ok if you you like minging strippers, and that didn't matter as we didn't have any intention on stopping there that long.

The real fun came the morning after when we came to check out.... the hotel manager (toothless fellow hard to miss) stated that he had found cigarette burn's in one of the carpets in one of the rooms and that he was keeping everyone's deposits to pay for the damage, we had a major problem with this as no-one on the stag do smoked and it was quite clear that the burn had been there some time as you could see dirt and fluff on the floor through the hole in the carpet. we protested at the fact that no-one moked and the fact that he was keeping everyones money, this con artist had clearly done htis before as he was straight onto the local bill as soon as we protested, the polce informed us there was nothing they could do as there was no-way of proving it...

We gave up in the end as tiredness was setting in from the night before, and without our deposits hence why i am writing this..

Do yourself a favour and stay away from this place, there are for more nicer places to stay in whitley bay

“Strippers”

We booked a night at the Caprice Hotel in Whitley Bay due to my partner running the Great North Run. when we turned up to stay at this hotel my partner went to check in and was told to come back after 5 when the strip club had finished. My partner was aware that there was a nightclub below the hotel, and being young (we are mid 20's) this was not a problem. however at no point were we informed that this was a strip club. this hotel is probably ok for a bunch of lads on a stag do but i would not advise anyone else to stay here

Did this person really try to check into the Caprice or are they getting us mixed up with another hotel?
I can assure you that the hotel is in no way a 'strip club' or has a nightclub below!
There is a seperate bar below the hotel which is a completly seperate enitity. The bar is a public bar not a hotel bar and is only open normal pub hours.
We are contsantly busy throughout the year with guests of varying ages who return year after year.
