“very friendly staff and owners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

We stayed here for just one night , the owners and staff are very helpful and the overall stay we had was first class. The breakfast will keep you going all day not to be missed
The room was large and clean and quiet ..After a great night watching the Moody Blues at the newcastle city hall a good pint was welcome in the bar ,We will be back in the future .PS the landlady even gave us two day tickets for the metro to get to see the concert.

Found the Avalon by chance when we were on a biking holiday, stayed for 2 nights although has originally planned 1. Friendly people who run it and the breakfasts really set you up for the day. Went to the Buskers night in the bar and was made to feel really welcome. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Whitley Bay.

“Best value in the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 March 2010

We had a large, triple, room with a good size bathroom at the front of the hotel. No problem with street noise, although it was the off season so it may be noisier in the summer. They had a buskers night in the bar but we could barely hear it in our room.
Breakfast is very good, cooked to order and plenty of it. Staff were friendly and helpful.

“Ask for room at the back!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2009

A biker themed bed hotel with basic but clean accomodation and a very decent breakfast.

The hotel faces a road with several nightclubs which, at tipping out time, looks like Bagdad on a bad day or a documentary on booze Britain.

No problems inside the hotel though

“Fab themed bar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2009

We stayed at the Avalon Hotel on the way home after a trip around Scotland on our Harley. We had heard about the hotel but never visited it before. There was secure parking available but were assured that our bike was safe as they did not ever have any trouble there. The hotel was on a streetful of other hotels and B&B's but it stood out from them. There was a skeleton riding a motorbike on the wall outside, this theme cascaded into the bar with hundereds of teashirts from all over the world pinned to the ceiling with full size motorbikes and other memorabilia in every nook and cranny. There was a very good selection of beers and lagers including some guest beers. They have a large function room called Trogen Rooms next door which holds nightly bands in all different music tastes from 60's to indie to reggae. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants and we had the most superb Indian meal in the next street with a five course inclusive deal for 8.99 each, how they did it for that I dont know. We retired to our room whilst the street was in full swing but heard only the seagulls and then had the best nights sleep. The room was spacious and very clean with a huge bathroom with bath and shower . We would go back and stay at the hotel again and will certainly be telling all our biker friends to try it.
