We stayed for one night recently after enjoying a surperb meal in Stephen Dedmans new onsite restaurant, which we wouldhighly recommend.
Sadly our first reaction on seeing our room (no.101) was not favourable the main problem being the slate grey decor and the strange mixture of styles in this huge bedroom.I mean traditional dado rails, modern oak furniture and a weird suspended halogen lighting rail. However every possible need for the business user was provided free of charge as were soft drinks in the fridge. We also found it a little unusual for of this calibre of hotel to only have a duvet on the bed with no counterpane, even Travelodge give you that,so you can lie on the bed without soiling the duvet with your feet.
The bathroom was also of very generous proportions the only downside being the onset of rot to the skirting boards where the shower had been leaking, not appealing!
The staff were very obliging and friendly, nothing being too much trouble.
So if you fancy a traditional style hotel with tartan carpets ,oak paneling, excellent staff and a superb restaurant, then give the Regency a go,but try to get a discount as the price is a little on the high side.
Oh I forgot to mention that you take your chance with parking as the hotel relies on on street parking for guests and trying to negotiate the revolving door, the only way in,with a large case is entertaining to say the least.
