“A very nice Hotel”

We have just recently returned from a five day holiday at this hotel on a Skills coach trip.
We had a very good check in with the staff who quickly took our cases off the bus and put into the reception, We were very pleased with our room on the second floor as it was a very big, clean and modern, and faced the front so that we had good veiws over the bay and the promanade, The food at breakfast and the evening meal was excellent with a good variety to choose from.
All the staff there were very helpful and polite and I would realy recomend this hotel to any one visiting the Isle of Man and Douglas

We were in a room on the second floor with a small window overlooking the back alley (noisy at weekends and early morning) sadly we also had a view of the pigeons and their deposits left on the widowsill, the television was ok once I'd worked out how to use the changer, the shower was excellant' but unfortunately the bed although described as double was little more than a large single ' the bar opened and and shut in the blink of an eye we were there 4 nights it shut at 10 on 3 of them and never opened on the other, the breakfast was very good and staff friendly . the hotel is situated on the sea front wich has a very pleasant promenade ,parking can be a nightmare although it is free with for 2 hours with parking discs finding a lot can take an age and sometimes be quite a distance away from the hotel.

Room Tip: check the room first some at the back are a bit noisy

“Thanks for the gold medal service”

The England Team participating in the 4th Commonwealth Youth Games on the Isle of Man stayed at this hotel for the duration of The Games. It quickly became a 'home away from home'. The Manager, Alex Perriam, and his staff are to be commended for their wonderful can-do attitude - no request was too small or too large - and the service was always with a smile. The hotel management worked closely with us to ensure that the dietary requirements of all the team members were met and the food throughout our stay was first class. We established a physio treatment room, a medical room and a lounge area for the athletes within the hotel, all fitted out with our England team memorobilia. It looked great.

Thank you to everyone at the Chesterhouse for their contribution towards the great success of the England Team at the Commonwealth Youth Games - finishing first in the medal table and beating Australia by 9 gold medals!

The Chesterhouse would be our first choice of hotel on the Island for the England Team should the Games return to the Isle of Man again.

“Friendliness and service received is commendable!”

We have just spent a week at this hotel as part of Shearings coach trip. The greeting when we arrived was lovely, Karen the asst manager climbed aboard the coach to welcome us and many of the staff were stood outside the hotel welcoming us in. yes the corridors are narrow but in keeping with the period and design of the building. We opened the door to our room and couldn't believe the size of it ~ it was huge, a massive 6ft bed and a lounge area which had the most wonderful view across the bay of Douglas. I hasten to add that I had emailed the hotel prior to our holiday as my hubby suffers with panic attacks and I requested an airy room, which they had certainly done. From here on the holiday was just wonderful. The food was homely, tasty and plenty of it. Dining room staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble, especially one of the waitresses "Little Sue". I only needed to tell her of my husbands panics once and she always made sure there was a table for us, was so friendly and always smiling even when really busy. I can't tell you how much this meant. Alex the guy who ran the bar under the hotel was great too. In fact all the staff are to be commended as the warmth and friendliness makes you want to go back, in fact we went on line whilst we were there and rebooked for next year We have fallen in love with the Isle of Man, the manners, friendliness and cleanliness of the island beats anywhere we have been and we have been to many places around the world. Thank you Chesterhouse Hotel and Paul the driver for Shearings for making our holiday perfect!

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for your lovely comments. It is important to us to receive and deal with all feedback, both positive and negative, but it is obviously much more rewarding to hear favorable remarks. I will ensure that all staff are aware of this and will pass on my thanks to them, especially “little Sue”.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Chesterhouse Hotel and the Isle of Man in the near future.

Kind regards,

“Ok as uk hotels go”

We found the room alright, though the bed was comfy, got to sleep ok once the
extrator fan switched of in the kitchen, as it was very loud, our room over looked the
kitchen window.
The food was very good and plenty of it, morning and evening, and the staff were very
pleasant, your plate was taken away as soon as you had finished .

Room Tip: avoid room number. 111
