Decent sized rooms with proper opening sash windows - fabulous after H&S obsessed chain hotels with 1 inch gap windows!
"Executive single" rooms we booked all had a double bed
Plenty of clothes hanging space
All rooms had decent iron & ironing board, much appreciated for business travel

Negatives:
Intrusive aroma of fried food in the lobby/bar
Online photos very "well taken", generally could use a refresh of the decor
TV miles from bed - sounds picky but where else would you watch TV from in a hotel room!?
Nowhere out of the rain for smokers to enjoy a cigarette

I feel a bit unfair rating "3" overall, this is mainly because the decor is pretty dated & the beds not especially comfortable compared to what £60-ish would get you in a chain hotel. Staff mainly Eastern European, very polite and speak good English.

As the name suggests this Hotel is about horse racing, but only about the room names and photos. There are rooms with the names like 'Sandown', 'Newmarket', etc. We has a big room to the front 'Unmaned', and had a sea view, just, the room and bathroom were spotless and we had a corner jaquzi bath, no beans required. The breakast was buffet style and had both hot and cold choices, the restaurant food was good and good value and there was even a choice of bar meals (in the bar). The staff were very friendly and helpful, they even put our bought Manx kippers in the fridge overnight before our journey home.

We had paid for a superior room but the room we were given was not superior quality, the wallpaper seemed to be coming off the wall near the window and it had been pulled off behind the locker. We couldn't open the windows. There is supposed to be wifi but it didn't work in our room.

The jacuzzi bath had a hair stuck in one of the jets when we arrived and it was still there when we were leaving. When having a shower it took ages to get the temperature perfect before getting in, then without warning it would get roasting or freezing and you would have to jump out quickly and repeat the process again.

At breakfast the fresh fruit looked like it was there for days. The toast was not freshly cooked to order, it was hard and cold. The hot buffet had scrambled eggs sitting in a pool of water, the hash browns were greasy, the tomatoes were tinned, the mushrooms not cooked properly and the sausages had gristle in them. The staff were in a terrible hurry to clear your table, they would even take one person's plate if the other person was still eating.

TT Week - Staff friendly (apart from breakfast were the watch your every move). Clean and good value
