“Palace hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We stayed in the Palace Hotel whilst visiting friends / family in Douglas.
I can only say that the hotel was first class, I totally agree with another person that the extra money for a sea view is worth every penny.
It was quite a long walk to our room, thats the design of the hotel... what do you expect!!
The main restaurant (food & service) was excellent. The staff were very friendly & openly chatted.
My only two 'downers' were the location of the main entrance & the down stairs bar 'colours'.
A very enjoyable short break & we would definately stay there again. A car is a must!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with sea view near the lifts

Thank you for writing a review regarding the Best Western Palace Hotel and Casino, and we are pleased to read that you enjoyed your brief stay with us. We are glad that you found the food and service so good (and hope that the long walk to the room helped use up some of the calories!!!)

We do hope to welcome you back to the hotel soon.

“An All Rounder”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

We stayed in this hotel over the ‘Halloween Weekend – 28th – 30th Oct 2011) with some friends.
The hotel is on the sea front with an option of either ‘See view room or non – the difference was only £5, and it’s worth the extra pennies). The rooms are slightly dated (I would say the late 90’s), but don’t let this put you off, as they are fairly modern / comfortable and clean.
The restaurant overlooks the sea and it's nice to have your breakfast or dinner overlooking the sea. The casino is not quite in the Vegas league, however, it does tick the box (just).
There is a bar / night-club on the ground floor and for those night owls it’s a must (this is also one of the hot spots for the local’s, which is always a good indication, as the place to go).
All in all its a good hotel.

“Not Bad At All”

I stayed at the hotel because our company Christmas party was being held there and it made more sense to stay at the hotel than try an get home.

I was very pleasantly surprised. I'd never stayed at The Palace before and I had not heard got things about it, but it was on the whole very nice. The room was nicely done out and clean, there was plenty of toiletries, biscuits, tea & coffee provided. I had a good nights sleep and the check-out time of 12 certainly helped after the Christmas party!

I didn't use the pool or gym, but I have done before about 10 years ago and I remember it be very nice.

I would definitely stay here again.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review for the Best Western Palace Hotel and Casino.

We are very pleased that you enjoyed your one night stay with us (in a standard double room) and that you found the room provisions plentiful for your use.

We trust that the next time you need to stay over in Douglas, you will once again choose to stay with us and save the taxi fare home to Peel.

“A Nice Sea-View Hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

The hotel was larger than we usually go to. However, the bedrooms were comfortable but we had no sea view from the room. The dining area was segregated from the main one and was a tad on the cold side. We had to ask for the heating to be put on, as the weather was not exactly hot for June. A big step was in the way to the separate dining room and had to climbed up then down to access it. That was somewhat a put off and was not wheelchair friendly. The food was very good but the service was a little on the slow side. The weeks stay could have been better, had we been incorporated in the main dining area, instead have been herded into the 'other' room.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms come at an extra price.

Thank you very much for your comments regarding the hotel during your stay with the tour in June. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay on the island, and the food at the Palace, but apologise for the steps en-route to the dining area. There is an alternative route (which is a lengthier walk), but the room is fully wheelchair accessible.

We do hope that we may be able to welcome you back to the Palace again soon, and will endeavour to provide you with a seaview room on your next visit!

booked this hotel for a long wkend on manx gp fortnight. The reason we went for this hotel was because all other hotels were full,it was quiet expensive but had good reviews and a good rating. The hotel was nicely presented inside, we had breakfeast in the restaurant which was excellent with a great view, the staff were excellent. The rooms were very average, old fashioned and the beds were terrible. The hotel car park was big but that didnt matter because it was always full with cars belonging to people not staying at the hotel.
