“Excellent for business, right on water front”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2010

We stayed at the Town House after reading positive reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. Excellent location right on the waterfront and walking distance to the Douglas business and shopping centre. Excellent junior suite on the first floor with a large quality appointed bathroom and separate kitchen for self-catering if needed. Bread and milk also provided on arrival. Spotlessly clean. Particularly liked the free wi-fi internet connection. The hotel also arranges airport transfers on request which are very reasonably priced, efficient and friendly. A large flat screeen tv was also welcome. The hotel has an arrangement for breakfast with the establishment next door. Take the hotel's advice and check the bill if you are charging to your room. We had continental breakfast but were charged for a full breakfast. A small reading library was also a nice touch. Only one minor area for improvement - Check-in wasn't terribly friendly and made us feel we were an inconvenience on a Saturday afternoon. Also be warned - there is no lift. If like us you have heavy suitcases, this is a problem when having to lug them up and down stairs. Thankfully we were only on the first floor. We would defiinitely stay here again.

“At last, a proper hotel if you are coming to the isle of Man on business.”

Small, perfectly formed, WiFi, kitchen, mini bar, lovely fresh bread, cereal and milk all in your mini kitchen, good sized table, capacity for 4 of you to sit around it to eat/meet, elegant bathroom, iron and ironing board, huge kingsized bed with lovely 100% cotton linen, 42 inch plasma TV on the wall facing the bed, comfy sofa, fantastic shower, the lovely, friendly Coast Restaurant next door with very good food and wine, and NOTHING was too much trouble for the very charming owner and his assistant/receptionist. 2 really good meeting rooms on the ground floor too, one with direct sea views over the harbour. I could go on. Easily 10 out of 10.

“A class apart”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2008

I travel to the Isle of Man regularly on business and have long wished for a hotel which I could look forward to staying in and now I have found one. This rarity has inspired me to write my first review.

The Town house has been beautifully converted from a seaside hotel of small little rooms into a luxury hotel with 6 large suites. I stayed in a beautiful front suite with a spectcular view and huge living room / dining room.

It is a slightly different concept in that you are given entry codes and come and go as you please which makes you feel like you have your own apartment rather than a hotel room. You also have a kitchen in your suite which is a very American style.

It is very business friendly with wifi throughout and a full business centre in the basement just installed. I also used the quaint Town House Suite to conduct a couple of interviews.

I couldn't find a review for this hotel on Trip Advisor before I went which is a shame because it is well worth some positive comment. I have now found it is listed under bed and breakfast which is a little ironic since it is actually a hotel where breakfast is extra.

My only complaint is that when I tried to rebook they are very busy and could not stay every time.

“Great Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2008

My partner and I spent 3 nights here recently and had a really lovely time. This 'apart-hotel' is situated very conveniently on the sea-front at Douglas near the ferry. It has been recently renovated and as such the furnishing is new, very clean and to a very high standard. The bed was very comfortable with lovely crisp white bed linen, comfy white bath robes good quality toiletries. The furnishings are of a high standard including the flat screen tv and comfy sofa. The bathroom and walk in monsoon shower was great and the small kitchen had everything you need for a short stay to rustle up snacks or breakfast. The arrival pack of fresh bread, milk, cereal and jams etc was most welcome too.

I would say this 'apart-hotel' idea is most suitable for fairly independent travellers who don't mind not having the usual trappings that go with the 'all singing dancing' service of a hotel and prefer being left to get on with things. For example, you don't get your rooms cleaned every day and there is not anyone there at night if you have a minor query (though you do have contact numbers in an emergency). This can be a problem if for example, like us you run out of toilet roll and tell the receptionist in the morning who promises to replace, and then return in the evening after reception has shut to discover it hasn't been replaced! But this was a minor issue in an otherwise wonderful stay. We would heartily recommend this place.

The Isle of Man is also a beautiful place to visit and we really enjoyed our trip. People were very friendly and there is lots to keep you busy for a good few days. We did hear some bad comments about the standard of accomodation generally on the island so it definitely pays to do some research before booking ! We were just glad we found a great place to stay for our visit and would definitely stay again if we returned.

“The Town House - a secret you should discover”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 April 2008

Spent an anniversary weekend at The Town House with my wife. The accommodation has only just opened and has been renovated and furnished to a very high standard. The attention to detail is amazing and everything you could possibly want has been provided. They have an arrangement with the hotel next door - which is a good one and if you don't want to self cater, you can dine at the hotel and charge any of your meals to your Town House bill. I would recommend this accommodation to couples and business travellers in particular - close to the central business district, shops, entertainment and sea front. There is even wireless internet for those who can't wait to check e-mail!
