Our hosts, Des and Lyn pulled out all the stops for a superb break on the Island. The hotel is comfortable and the breakfasts superbly cooked to order. Conveniently situated only a short walk to shops and restaurants The Belmont stands out as the best hotel in Shanklin by far. Our room has a lovely view out to sea and I enjoy spotting the liners as they sail into Southampton. Des very thoughtfully provides a list of shipping times - so this enhances the experience.

We like the bar food provided in the evening which means we do not have to go out for meal if we have been out walking and want a rest at the hotel. The bar is well stocked and other touches such as mints at reception and coffee/tea making facilities and board games in the lounge makes for an excellent, enjoyable stay. Another excellent addition is the sauna within the main building.

We will be back again!

My Wife and I celebrated our 10th anniversary with a meal with our family at The Belmont,there were 20 of us, and everyone had a most enjoyable time.
The food was delicious and all the staff went out of their way to make sure that every thing was perfect.
This is an ideal venue for private functions, and while there were only 20 of us, i would imagine that the dining room would take up to about 30.
As we live locally, none of us stayed, but if the bedrooms are as tasteful and comfortable as the public rooms , then i am sure that a stay at the Belmont would be memorable.

After watching last night tv programme about trip adviser – I have decided to have a go….My wife have recently organised a trip for us to Isle of Wight. Rather randomly, she has chosen The Belmont in Shanklin as our residence for couple of days. I must admit, I was slightly bemused, as she is fully aware that I am rather conservative when it comes to hotels and tend not to access any accommodation below 4 stars (being a little snob) …but here you go – wives in general!

However, the Belmont was more then a surprise – it was absolutely lovely! We have booked 2 rooms – one for my wife and myself, second one for my mother and my offspring. Our room was spacious while the second one was a bit smaller – however both rooms were in a very nice condition, very clean and tidy. Little chocolates left on the pillows on our arrival was certainly a nice touch.

The Belmont is a family run business and certainly is run very well. Desmond (the owner) – is the fountain of knowledge about the island (being born and bread islander). The prices are more then accommodating in this financial climate, food is freshly cooked and tasty. The Belmont offers bar facilities with beverages at very reasonable prices as well as quantity.

I have rather enjoyed my stay at the Belmont and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Should I ever return to the island – the Belmont is the place.

One of the best B&Bs we have ever stopped in. The room was clean bed was extremely comfortable, breakfast spot on and the hosts were and in fact are the most friendly people you could ever meet! If we did have any problems which we did not know that they would have been delt with! I would recommend anyone to stay here not too far from beach or shanklin town or old village. Had most enjoyable stay and see them again
