My wife, five year old son and I stayed at Thorntonloch for two nights whilst attending a friend's wedding in Dunbar.
From the moment of arrival we were made to feel "at home" and relaxed immediately into what felt more like a family home than a hotel. That's not say that all our needs and wants weren't catered for in a prompt and courteous manner, more that we received all of that and more.
Peter and Linda clearly have a passion for ensuring that guests feel able to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Our room was perfect for our needs and Linda's extra gestures of providing DVDs for our son should the need arise was greatly appreciated.
During our stay our son was poorly and miserable, rejecting our offers of food and nurture and eventually returning to bed to sleep off his ailments. A miracle cure was found in Peter's secret stash of Caramel Wafers which, combined with Calpol proved to be the necessary remedy!
Suffice to say that we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Highlights included the entertainment offered by "Big Ears" , Peter and Linda's dog, who remains a topic of conversation for my son still.
Last but not least, the food. Linda's breakfasts and Peter's treats were the perfect fare. Make sure you try Linda's Tattie Scones!
We've already begun talking about a Scottish Adventure for next year and Thorntonloch is high on the list for our Edinburgh Base Camp.
